I think you have to at least watch it twice to understand what everyone's talking about and picking up smaller details.

SPOILER ALERT Re : ending
If the totem stopped spinning, it would've been a perfect movie with a perfect closure. Since they had to cut it off, everyone has to discuss if the whole thing was a dream and what role did everyone play(analyzing their names). Does he care because he's happy in HIS reality? After reading a lot, I just decided that the totem fell over and my head doesn't hurt anymore.
