im looking for a new apartment because i dispise my neighbors and i only need a 1 bedroom instead of the 2 bedroom i currently have. so is it really true that most of your freebies dont get forwarded to your new address. i think i might go into withdrawal and have a breakdown if i have to go a few weeks w/o my daily mailbox fix.

As soon as you get your new apt. lined up, start putting the new address on your freebee requests. That should shorten the gap.

Wouldnt it depend on if the samples are addressed only to you, or to "NAME or current resident"? If not addressed to current resident, Id think they HAVE to deliver them to you. But then, we are talking about the lazy, good for nothing, federal govt, arent we. :hmm:

I moved from Hartford to PA last year.

Some of the freebies did come to my new address, but some of them got lost. I guess it depends on who's sorting the mail and if they want to be nice or not.

i hope i have nice postal workers. i know i get a lot of junk but i like my junk

When we moved to Florida,it took forever for us to get our mail. And now our mail carrier hates me because of all of the freebies I get.And since my husband joined....she really wont like us.

Make sure you fill out those "fun" change of address things before you move out, that way if your new post office has your address on file, your mail should arrive to where ever you are.:bigok:

The P.O. dosen't care if you get your mail. I only got half of my first class letters when I moved!

It is true.
We moved here last August, and alot of stuff I signed up for did not forward. Look at your samples you get now - most say "or current resident." I hope the current resident of my last place has enjoyed some razors, shampoo and what ever else I ordered.

Yeah ....I guess I am in denial. What was I thinking....geez.

.....about getting all of the mail from your letter carrier.

Can you go back and check your 'old' mailbox for a while?

I'm sorry to tell you...but they only forward the first class mail. I moved 7 months ago and I didn't receive any samples from my old address. To be honest I found some of my first class mail at the old address after 3-4 months.

I still get mail for the previous owner of our house...after 4 years!

I try to be nice to my mail carrier. He doesn't know it yet, but he delivered a wall of books (floor to ceiling) in my library!

Oh, yeah, check out the change of address kit from the post office. Quite often there are discount coupons to Home Depot or Lowe's.

Forwarding is for one year. That is, if they remember to do it.
