I looked at it... but I would like a monitor with DVI, and DVD-RW.... but I think my Dellf 25% off coupon won't work in the Outrageous Deals section on Dell's site.

Ahh, I just figured it would be a little less out of pocket. But hey if you can afford it, go for it. It seems like a pretty good deal. ;)

Sweeeet... I feel better now with Choochoojr's (Super Moderator) blessing!! Thanks again!!!!!! :)

You can pick up a good DVD-RW drive for pretty cheap and add it afterwards. How much extra is it for the drive?

The base system gives you just a DVD-ROM...
I would upgrade to 48x CD-RW Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/dbl layer write for $100

You can get a good dual layer DVD-RW for less than $100 at newegg.com. The ones that ship with Dell systems are not very good. The dual layer drives are not really that popular now anyways, the media costs way to much. So you actually do not even need to get a dual layer drive yet.

Also do you really need a 20 flat panel monitor, I would stick with the 17 flat panel monitor. Not really worth the money in my eyes for 3 inches. Also, I do not think you will see much difference between DVI and Analog.

If I were you I would just get the Outrageous deal with the 17' monitor and spend the rest of the money and get a better graphics card, a little more memory(512kb is sufficient), and a DVD-RW drive. It would still be cheaper for you in the long run.

But the +100 gets the DVD-RW and the CD-RW... would it still be cheaper.

As for the monitor... I know I probably dont need the big ol 20" but when I configured with the 17" ultraview which has DVI, it was 200 cheaper... so for 200 more I could get the 20".... seemed like that would be hard to pass up.
Thoughts?
Thnx again

Yeah, I looked at the outrageous deals page for Deminsion 8400, but I can't use my 25% off Dellf coupon there. I guess I will have to configure through that page and see what the difference is.

I myself would never pay that much for a PC from Dell.

I would get something cheap, and add on with non Dell parts. You can find graphics cards, memory, hard drives, sound cards, dvd-rw/cd-rw drives etc... at other places for alot cheaper.

Most of the Dell add-ons are not really all that good and not worth the extra costs and can be found for alot cheaper elsewhere, we always have good deals posted here on these things.

Another good place to find nice prices is...
