HAHA i think anyone taking their special someone to white castle even with the extra services for valentines day dinner isn't gonna have a great nite

Gee whiz! Theyre just flowers. Not gold or cocaine. Those prices seem very high to me. I have a local florist who sells a dozen roses for $6. No vase, not long stemmed, but a very good deal. Looks like Aldi's is a good deal too.

the costco price is for 18 roses me thinks. As for the coke addicts, stick to roses, its big money and its legal.

We not talking about those chinese silk roses, are we?

Costco everyday price for 2 dozen longstem roses is $12.99. But, of course, just around Valentine's day, the jack up the price to $24-29 every year, bastards! Their flowers, however, are of very good quality.

$6 now? Or just any other time of the year?

For me, the local florist has that price all year (as long as theyve got roses)

There's a florist in Provo that sells a dozen short stemmed roses wrapped up with a little babies breath and greenery for 6 bucks all year long. They typically have a really good selection of varieties and the flowers are pretty good quality. I went there all the time to get flowers for dates and what not. I remember one time me and some roomates got flowers for a whole aprtment <6 of them> of girls cuz we were taking a few of them on a date....hmmm, i seem to have wandered off on a tangent, the point is, 6 bucks for a dozen short stemmed roses....yay!

Just to add, Target's deal comes with nice red vase for the price.

Wonder why you wandered.. Sidetracked by the ladies, were you?

Thats what Im saying, $6 a dozen. And here I thought that I was the only one with such luck. You guys are really depressing me. ;)

Being in the business...
I sell roses for $20 per dozen for Valentines. I did not list my company as I am not trying to solicit. My point is..Costco are not bastards for the huge increase. I could bore you all to tears on the hows and whys of why Valentines flowers are so high. To summarize: Columbia and Equador where they are grown/shipped from tighten the market and thereby squeeze the market to pay higher. They aren't idiots. They are business people in business to make money. the consequense is we all pay more for flowers. From a local wholesaler to me as a retailer selling to the public. I buy direct which is why I can sell for $20 per dozen. Any of my local wholesalers charge $.95 cents to $1.50 per stem so...It is reasonable to expect to pay double at Costco than usual.
My diatribe is complete...lol
Off to sell more stinkin roses...Ug!

Don't get me wrong, I am not exactly complaining. If you noticed, I said costco's flowers are of very good quality and I continue to be their loyal customer. But yet, as a customer you can't help but get somewhat angry when "it's nothing personal, it's just business" attitude forces you to pay premium for flowers because some idiot invented Valentine's Day ( ;) :zip: ) or pay obscene premium for gasoline because some idiot, or rather a group of idiots, control supply of oil to US from overseas.......just ventin'....

Thank god for the people that sell flower at the freeway exit, saved my relationship many times. :D you can actually talk down the price!

Hah! That means if you're a guy, the odds are you're getting some, so there's no need to waste $ on "expensive stuff"! :D :o  :zip:
