I am looking for a HDTV...around 27". My brother is trying to keep the price less than $250. I don't think it's possible, but stranger things have happened. Any ideas?

A solid deal is the Philips 30" HDTV, refurbished for $359 shipped. You can always use the few extra inches, especially in a widescreen.

I can tell you that I ordered a TV before this one from the Philips outlet, and it came in with a brown hue toward one side of the screen, minor. Philips took it back and I ended up ordering this $359 HDTV since it was a better deal. Their shipper (Eagle Global Logistics) is really really bad, and the new TV came in with spots ALL over the TV, not even watchable. Just a warning, don't know if they've changed their shipper yet. Might be worth a call before you order. I ended up returning both sets and buying one from Costco. The $359 set was very nice, except the shipper screwed it up.

Thanks Erik. My brother only has about $250, but he may have to save up. We were salivating over this TV.

Yeah, if he can get the extra $100, it's a great set. I have a similar model right now, and it's pretty good. For $359, how can you go wrong?

I think I just creamed my pants when I saw this TV.

Any reviews posted anywhere on it??

I had one, it was a great TV but it was broken upon delivery. I tried two of them before giving up. I then managed to exchange it for a newer model new one for the same price. ;) ;)

I so want an HDTV widescreen. DO I take the chance on this one?

Any comparable 30 in or more TVs with HDTV and widescreen??

Either way, if they come in broken, tell the shipping guy from Eagle to take it back from them and Philips will give you a refund. Or, Philips will shell out the $100 to have a company come to your house to pick it up. They did it for me.
