Hey everyone. I finally figured I should post about this.

My trusty Logitech QuickCam Messenger, nor my older webcams are Mac compatible, unfortunately. I'm looking for a Mac compatible webcam that's fairly decent, but as cheap as possible. I do like my QuickCam Messenger a lot, but I can't get it to function on a Mac.

Anyone have any ideas? $30 or under would be nice. Anyone using one right now and would recommend it?

Thanks.

OK, this one is not under $30, but for $40.95 at Overstock, you can get a refurbished Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 USB WebCam (compatible w/ Mac OS X 10.1.5 to 10.2.6). Shipping is free for this item.

... and Maybe Spoofee-Coupons knows if there are any % or $ off coupons that you could use to apply to your order?

Awesome. I definitely like Logitech webcams, I've had good luck with my QuickCam Messenger. The 4000 was the one I was looking at, but the cheapest I could find it was around $50, and that was a little high. $40 I can definitely deal with, especially since it is USB 2.0 and all. I'll look for some coupons and then go for this.

penpen, would you happen to know of any (possibly free) or extremely cheap USB 2.0 hubs? I have a Mac mini with two USB 2.0 ports, and I have a USB 1.1 hub plugged in, but between my MP3 player and this new webcam, a high speed hub would be helpful.

I'll have to take a look around

but say, WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP SO LATE!?!?

hee hee

ps I added some info in my previous post about a webcam under $30 that's Mac compatible, but probably not as nice as the Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000.

Sigh, started my homework at 10PM, around then. Just got caught up in reading, and well, not too tired. I took a nap earlier so I'm not that bad, I might go to sleep for a couple hours though, not sure what I'm going to do yet. Probably finish this thing and order the new webcam! :D

Yeah, for the extra $12 or $13 or whatever, the QuickCam is definitely the way to go, especially since I'm able to sell my QuickCam Messenger for a reasonable amount.
