My Maxtor HD's died too...I like that they're quiet, but I'd trade quietness for reliability.
 
I have to disagree with the maxtor haters out there, from my experience I had a ton of Maxtors and none of them have yet to failed on me.

On the other hand, I did buy a 200GB WD and it died on me in less than a year (maybe 24/7 bittorent on it wasn't a good ideal, but hey when you have a 1MB(mega byte) up/down you use it).

Now I only stick with Segates, 5 year warranty and no crashes makes for a very happy buyer.
 
will not buy maxtor anymore. all my hdd made by maxtor are all terminated now!

i'm using WD now... like it so much
