Answered my own question. The fine print at the bottom of the rebate says that it's not valid for third party sellers at Amazon.com. So... no $2 overage here. I know I know... as if FREE isn't enough. :-)
 
This is a great offer. I just bought a copy.

I'm a little nervous tho... The website on the rebate form, www.mcafeerebates.com does not show any current rebate for this. I just spent about 20 minutes on the phone to McAfee asking about it. As far as McAfee is concerned, they do not show any rebate... *shrugs*

Tried the webchat 1st, they gave me that phone #. I called and couldnt find a way to speak to a human. So I called the McAfee 800# and talked to sales/customer support. After quite a bit of checking, she said she couldnt find any valid rebate offer. I'm sure its just a glitch somewhere. Amazon and McAfee are both respectable companies... I just worry about rebates. LoL.

Sounds like we're gonna have to EARN these Rebates- like that crazy ANTEC LAPTOP COOLER rebate when the company went bust!

I likewise do not trust rebates anymore. Last two never came and got "lost in the mail".

FYI, Just got my shipment from Amazon.
The rebate DOES show up on the www.mcafeerebates.com site now.
