I love steaks, this is a pretty good deal, the portions look kinda small but what the heck it is $99 for 2.

Doesn't seem like a very good deal to me. I guess I am just used to Mid-West Restaurant pricing, I can get 2 18 oz Dallas fillets steaks plus sides for 40-50$ here..

I couldn't have said it better myself!

I always feel guilty ordering steak. Mine taste just as good right off the outdoor grill...even during winter in -5 temperatures.

mortons is quite amazing really. the portions are rediculously huge. words cannot justify how much food you really are getting when you go to eat here. you will be taking food home.

I don't think you guys understand... this is MORTON'S. Morton's average bill size is about 400 dollars for two... without wine.

Psh, I'm going twice.... THANK YOU SPOOFEE!

Let's just agree to disagree, there is no-way I would ever pay 99$, let alone 400$ for a dinner for two, specially not with a dozen steakhouses in town that I can go to for half that price. And from those places I take home food too, because it's too much to eat.

I've been to Morton's once. I got the cheapest steak on the menu, drank water, and had no sides, and I still spent over $40. It was a very good steak, but it sure-as-shootin' wasn't worth $42. In other words, this deal is a big rip-off because the restaurant itself is a giant rip-off.

I called to ensure that they would honor this deal on V-day adn they confirmed that they would. Booked my reservation for 2. I think its a pretty good based on previous bill's I have had there. Luckily, I wasn't footing the bill on those!!

its more so the prestige and status of saying you ate at a "fancy" steakhouse where people will know you dropped some coin...

That said, ive eaten at some expensive steakhouses, and im sorry to say that these places get the best cuts of meat and they dry age their beef to be absolutely delectable...

Now, im not saying its worth what they charge, (two weeks ago i ate at josephs steakhouse in bridgeport, Ct... a steakhouse that tries to mimic peter lugers in brooklyn, the bill was in lower triple digits for two people, was it worth it? -No.. but i brought someone out for the occasion on my dollar) but to say that the average weekend grill guy can good a steak just as good is nonsense... I will agree that for the money, the steak cooked at home will be more satisfying, providing you saved yourself a couple hundred bucks...

These places sell their meat raw with overnight shipping (just check out some of their websites)... People who have the money to "throw away" want the best tasting steak possible and will pay a premium for it...

My dining experience at Morton's

My husband and I celebrated a late Valentine's Day on Feb 16th at where else? Mortons! We had never dined there before but with the "$99 for two people" deal we found here on spoofee, we decided to give it a try.

To start off, we were presented with a very large loaf of bread that was the size of a small dinner plate. It had cheese and onions on the the outside and it was warm and soft on the inside. It also comes with a smaller plate with a large square butter patty.

Next comes the salad, and yes, you both get one! The salad comes in a very large portion (enough for two to share) and you get a choice between two.

After that, if you aren't full already, comes the main course. You get a steak (single cut filet), one choice of seafood and one choice of vegetable. This is for each person.

If that wasn't already enough food, you each get a dessert!

For everything that you get, I'd say that $99 is definitely worth it! Especially when it normally costs a minimum of $100 per person to dine there.

It was nice to get all dressed up (we don't get to do it often) and dine in a relaxed atmosphere. :claps:

dang I must be poor compared to you folks! Got any Taco-Bell for 2 deals Spoof?

Big whoop....with the economy the way its going, that's still way overpriced! I am sure before the recession is over they will be closing resturants. $99 for a dinner for two is just rediculous.

When I was in college, I worked in a steak house and there you could get the same thing for about $50 for two, everyday....no coupon needed. It might be a good deal for Morton's, but they still wont be getting my money.

Yea! I have a $100 gift certificate so this is perfect. Except that I was going to take the boys too...I guess not!

$99 for 2 people to eat a dinner?

$99 for 2 people to eat a dinner?

If you had some cash and want to take someone very special out to dinner (anniversary, birthday, Valentine's Day, etc) and make it a meal to remember, would you take them out to McDonald's?

I didn't think so.

Now, I'm not saying that dropping $99 for 2 should be a daily occurrence, but if you truly appreciate fine dining and have something good to celebrate, why not spend the extra money? Remember, it's not just the food, but also the experience.
