When I'm on the forum homepage, I see this:

That seems like a whole lot of users compared to today. Does anyone know what was going on then? Was Spoofee really that busy in 2006?

Yes, it seems that a whole slew of members popped up at the same time!

*sniff* I miss then...

BD... Clubby... Wade... The soccer chick (Propelissa), Night Doughnut (that wasn't really his avatar... it's just what my mind saw when I read it) and dare I say... Dehawk? *slight shivers* I'm sure I'm missing a whole bunch of peeps for whom life has just gotten busy.

But things were very interesting in the off topic section back then.

Don't worry... Servantof1, Sunny and Jerry- you guys are keeping up quite well!

Precocious... you are faithful too!

I had to come back because I realized that I forgot diGriz. Boy can you come up with the right twist to any story!

Ah yes - the "Golden Age" of Spoofee...the "good Old days'...when the freebies were more than 'personal lubricants', dehydrated water and 'Camel points'.

No one was afraid to speak their mind (some of us with little to work with), some spoke their mind too much (and suffered the Mod Rod) and others (sensing that rules were coming) faded into the vast expanse of the web.

Now that it is past, I can share the secret of 03-22-2006.

Spoofee had a participation contest (sponsored by Microsoft) that every Spoofee user who was signed on @ 2:05pm received $2.05. Unfortunatley, both Microsoft & Spoofee underestimated us, too many users signed on and the budget for the project was quickly blown. I got an email giving me 205 Microsoft points (whatever the heck they are) and turned to drink.

To this day every time I see a computer - I have to take a shot of bourbon.

Damn you Bill Gates.

It all makes sense now.

Thanks for the compliment!
