newegg is carrying the brand new NEC 3500A 16x DVD±RW dual layer drive for $88 in beige, or $90 in black. Shipping is $4. This is a brand new drive that burns at 16x in DVD+R and DVD-R, burns dual layer discs, and burns CD-R's at 48x. Even though this drive is state of the art for cheap, by the time you can get affordable media to take advantage of the speeds, it'll probably be replaced with something newer, so just keep that in mind. But never-the-less, this is a fantastic price for a cutting edge drive.

If you were to buy, which one would you go for - Pioneer DVR-108 or NEC ND-3500A? Need suggestions... (In case of NEC, the CD write/read speeds are slightly more otherwise all other speeds are same for both the drives)

Thanks

either one. Just be sure you get software with it so you know it works.

I bought an NEC from NewEgg, got 5 free blank DVD's with it. Paid $63.00 after free shipping, got it 5 days after I ordered it, only due to the weekend. No programs of any kind came with it, hooked it up and it runs fine.
