Nec ND3550a DVDRW + eTrust Software for ~$25 Shipped After Rebates

Stay away from Big Rebates!!!
It is a scame! According to the consumemer research more than 50% of rebates never get paid by one reasons or other! Only online documentable rebates have some credibility!
Most of the huge buy.com or TigerDrect rebates are mail in and you can not depend on it!!!

Yes, I only got 70% rebates back. I don't really trust on rebates.

TigerDirect is not one to do rebates with, their rebate guarantee is total BS. I've got 2 very old rebates pending with them and I have called and refiled with their rebate guarantee department and they do nothing, it just cost me another postage stamp. Best to leave anything with TigerDirect alone, and you will notice that no one ever posts anything nice about them.

I was reading through a Tiger Direct catalog this evening and I found the NEC ND3550 available as black OEM (N27-1886) and in beige (N27-1890) for $39.99 and $41.99 respectively. I recently purchased this drive for about $33 via a previous spoofee posting with buy.com (I think) and I have nothing but good things to say about the drive. I have delt with Tiger Direct only once, and no rebate was involved, so even though I had a good experience, it isn't valid. If you guys [spoofee members] warn about TigerDirect, I will listen. All I have to say is that this is a great drive, and worth spending upwards of $50 on.

I have this drive too and I recommend it.

I do NOT recommend Tiger Direct however, had some very bad experiences wit them. And their customer service is less than stellar... :(

I too have had some very bad experiences with TigerDirect's rebates. I live very close to one of their "stores" and they have almost everything in the warehouse behind the store, so it is easy access for them. If it were not for this, I would never deal with them.

I have been burned by their rebate "guarantee" on some big things (LCD TV ~$150 MIR) and their response is that I did not fill out the form correctly: I have a PO box on file with them in the store (this is the mailing address for my company, I like to minimize the junk mail catalogs delivered to door) and that printed on the reciept. Their response was that the reciept did not match the documentation I supplied and therefore they flagged it as FRAUD. Now considering my company is an insurance company, we take that word very seriously and I filed a complaint with the BBB... which they (rebate vendor--onrebate.com) never replied to and TigerDirect said they were not affilliated with their rebate vendor.

For this reason, I only shop there in rare circumstances and never give them any personal information.
