I'm a college student, strapped for cash, so I do the freebates at Eckerd and Walgreen every month. Yesterday I went to the Eckerd near my school and purchased some items available for freebate. I also purchased a cartridge for my plug in air freshener. On the way home from stopping by my mom's house, I realize I got the wrong brand cartridge for my air freshener, so I stop by a different eckerd to return it. I was buying a couple things after returning, so I didn't notice that the cashier not only gave me attitude but forgot to give me the receipt back!! How do I get a receipt for submitting my freebates?? Can I return the stuff I bought for the same items and use that receipt?

Maybe it's too early for me, but I don't quite understand your question:

Can I return the stuff I bought for the same items and use that receipt?

I can tell you I had a problem at finding a receipt I had from Walgreens one time, they can find the receipt, and I think it's the same at Eckerds.

If you know approx. what time you paid and at which register you paid, approx. amount you paid, they can do a search. It may take them a little while, and they may not be too happy to have to do it because they physically have to search, but it can be done.

Try explaining your situation to the manager. Instead of hunting through the receipts, they may just do a return/repurchase for you to get your receipts. You may want to go back to the store where the clerk 'gave attitude'. Chances are she'll remember you so you wouldn't be looked at as if you 'shoplifted' these items and then want a receipt for a rebate! ;)

On another note, I must say that I admire you and your 'creativity'. Being a 'strapped for cash' student is very difficult but there are valuable life lessons that can be learned and you are learning them. Instead of just accumulating credit card debt by throwing it all on the 'card', you're being responsible through this 'struggle'. :claps: I wish you much success, just don't loose your receipts next time! :)

I meant that the clerk kept the receipt from the return which had freebate purchases on it. I didn't know if I could swap the items for the same thing in order to get a receipt. Thanks for your tip! I'll call and see if they can reprint the original.

Just talk to the manager explaining the situation without mentioning the attitude part initially and say that the clerk forgot to give you the receipt and you'd like it if they can help with the situation. I've gone back for receipt reprints a couple of times. And yes, if you see that specific clerk, just wave and say hi, s/he will be too shocked to say anything during your visit ;)

Don't you get a few dollars back if they fail to give you a receipt? ;)

I have also seen them write out a seperate recpt. that they works for rebates when you have 2 items on one recpt and need another one they just write in on a store written pad.

If you purchased it on a credit card, they can send you a copy of your receipt!
