I bought a top of the line Dell PC 4 years ago. It's a 1.9ghz P4 w/ 400mhz-fsb and currently 256mb RAMBUS PC-800 Ram (upgradable upto 4gb in pairs of 2)
Now to those of you who don't know RAMBUS (aka RD-RAM) is expensive as heck, about $150 for a new stick of 512mb or ~200+sh for 2x512 on ebay.
Heres the question, I thought of purchasing a new mobo+cpu and being able to get SDRAM which is cheaper but Dell uses the proprietary power supply/mobo combo so I wouldn't really be able to sell my current setup for a good price or at least I think, would you guys wait and get a whole new computer 3.2+ pentium-D with about a gig or 2 of ram, or upgrade this one?
Obviously the use factor is a big one and I use it primarily for simple things, no gaming but watching movies/burning dvds/and tried to do video editing with adobe premiere but gave up bc of the lack of ram...
spoofee find me rambus, if not find me an answer!!!
