New here, have a question ...

I have spent half of today exploring this site, it is wonderful and I am thrilled that I found it!

This is a new (to me) computer with a brand new hard drive, and I have only been to two or three sites, including ebay and amazon and tvguide, other than here.

Today I received either a scary letter or my first spam. If it is a real letter, it must be about this site because this is the only place I've been other than my email in a week or so. Could you folks please tell me if this is a probable result of visiting here? Has this happened before?

I am hoping it is just spam, but if so, I don't know how it snuck through given all the firewalls and protectors I have on it...

Anyway, sorry to be longwinded, here is the email and thanks so much if you are able to tell me what this is... It is from "[email protected]" --

I would have to say it is just spam, don't worry about it... ;)

I do not think the CIA would send you an email to let you know you are in trouble, they would have no problem coming to your house. They would probably come to your house, confiscate your computer and any thing else they deem fit to investigate. They email probably did not come from the CIA, it was probably just someone who was masking the domain. Good thing you had your virus scanner running, that virus would have nasty on your PC. :(

This has never happened to me. I started using this site a couple of months ago. I did start an email account just for all the spam I might get. Actually though I have to say it hasn't been that bad and I've given my email address out like crazy. This is a good legitimate site. Not like the sites where all the freebies are ipods and $500 gift cards.

It is a VIRUS!!!! DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHEMENT...I just got an email at work about this exact email!!!

Repeat Do NOT Open it!!!

Not only did I get CIA, I got the FBI too. It even said I went to some porno sites! :eek: Must have gotten about 50+ just today. Norton and earthlink virus blocker notified me of about 10 or so viruses.

Not to worry - visit as many porno sites as you wish - the government does not care as long as they collect the sales tax! :)

Okay, Okay....we'll report it (the SPAM)... Though the FBI still doesn't care if you visit the porn site as long as you pay the tax.... :tongue:
 
Hmm so if i visit porn but dont pay tax is that a probelm (cause i am in trouble then)

Ps does a racoon have to pay tax (let the puns begin)

Many a men have gone to 'college' for not paying tax....now, if a racoon had the balls NOT to pay tax (fence there, couldn't tell) who knows what would become of him????? (pick up soap guy at sing-sing???) :confused:

I appreciate the information and am glad it's not a virus.

Actually I got another email today, same thing... I went to the report site link (from response above) and entered the info on the first three pages, but the fourth one wanted me to report a product, so I clicked off, (b/c no product, just an email).

Anyway, thanks so much all. I think I need to upgrade my virus protector.

Try not to open any attachments, even if it say nude pics of XYZ. Set up mail filters,
