I need two new tires and I wonder if anyone knows of any deals? Local chains are Firestone and NTB, I'll also take any hints for local Austin TX places if you've got 'em.

It pains me deeply to say this, but have you called Wal-Mart?

you know, I didn't think about them. they're closer to work too.

/shudders ;)

Costco has the best prices and Service(lots of goodies, like Free flat repair.....) if there is one near you of course :)

Costco and America's Tire Co. have the best prices on tires, I've been told (by Costco.) Costco has limited selection. America's Tire Co. in some states is known as Discount Tire Co. but its best to check their website at (confusingly) www.discounttire.com to see what they are called in your state. You can get their prices and selection on their website.

By the way: if you only replace two tires, be sure to mount them ONLY on the REAR! You'll get lots of opinions on the point, but this Michelin video will convince you once and for all to PUT TWO NEW TIRES ON THE REAR - whether you have a front wheel drive, all wheel drive, or rear wheel drive car.

click on the link to the video at:

you might have to click on the play button twice to get it to work.
