Nintendo DSi Pre-Order for $169.99 Shipped

think it will be as rare as the first nintendo ds?

With this economy i doubt Nintendo would make lots of these

I heard that the DSi is NOT region free. So Japanese games will not work on a US DSi and vice versa. Not sure how true that is though.

If the original DS becomes obsolete when DSi comes out, I'm sure it'll still sell.. I've seen more children with a DS than a PSP, so :P

PSP is probably on it's way out.

I want to see what copy protection this new one has.

Ok yall, I know you can help, we have 4 kids and are about to get them all a nintendo DS so they can play seperately from each other, this new dsi, is it like a Wii or something you have to be attached to a tv to play? We are trying to get them something they won't fight over and can all play different games so seperate nintendo DS's sound like our only plan right now, anyone have input on this?

Nintendo DS (including the original, and the lite and new DSi variants) is a handheld console. It's got it's own screen -- two of em in fact -- and can't be plugged into a TV, though it may interface with the Wii.

In my view, the DSi is more tuned to the adult audience with added media and wifi capabilities. Younger kids would probably be better off with a DS-lite at the $40 savings.

I spent a couple weeks trying to decide if I should spend a couple days' worth of my hard-earned money on this before I finally did pony up and preorder on Amazon. I searched all around, and this is as good a deal as I could find, even taking into account cashback programs. I could get discounts or coupons other places, but never enough to offset the free shipping and no tax with amazon.

A DS can connect to other DSs in the room & play games together if you have that type of game. I suppose this new DSi would too.

They probably push another Mario game on us with it.

Just looking at the pre-order page and you Amazon will guarantee any price drop before they become available. There was conditions (isn't there always) but that sounds good.
