This could be interesting.

If you look at the form for the MIR for either of the Sandisk items, it says that the rebate only applies to in-store purchases, and specifically excludes online orders. Apparently they didn't catch this until AFTER they had put it online.

As of right now, both items are still online (links below), and still have the rebate listed.

Now, if this were Staples, I would say, "check your email for the cancellation notices, folks." But Office Depot is usually better about honoring their offers. Guess we'll see what happens.

I called the Office depot rebate center to confirm - they WILL NOT honor the rebate for the Sandisk items if purchased online.

HOWEVER....

I then called the Office Depot customer service center (1-800-GO-DEPOT), and explained the situation. They placed a note on my record, and have promised to honor the rebates if the rebate center will not do so.

OD rebates take a long time. 3-4 months.

I can't say that I've noticed Office Depot rebates taking any longer than most. taking a quick look at my log (yes, i log all of my rebates...), the last couple were fulfilled within 8 weeks or so.

But hey...that's how they make their money. The longer they can hold onto OUR money the better ;-)

Office Depot rebates

I purchased the McAfee software and cannot access the rebate(s). Any help? After almost 45 minutes on the phone with OD customer service they were able to find a $15 form, but that is hardly FREEE AFTER REEBATES when I paid $70!! Any help?

Go to the Mcafee online rebate center:

and fill in the form. It should respond with all applicable manufacturer's warranties.

By the way, I have to note that both of the problem rebates have been credited to my credit card, a scant two weeks later. I did have to call OD customer service, and I did have to escalate to level 2, since the level 1 rep I spoke to didn't know how to handle it. But once I got the right person, ir was taken care of with no questions asked.
