Panasonic PT-AE900U HD Home Projector $1599.00 After Rebate (Membership recommended)

Costco.com has the Panasonic PT-AE900U HD Home Cinema Projector for $1,599.00 after a $400.00 mail in rebate. You must have a CostCo Membership or you have to pay a 5% premium which would be an extra $100.00, which is still a great deal. Also the rebate includes a Blockbuster Rental card worth up to $300.00.

If you want to purchase this from CostCo and you don’t have a membership it would be in your best interest to purchase a CostCo membership for $45.00. The cost of the membership is less than the 5% Premium required w/o a membership. Also if you are not satisfied with your purchase the projector can be returned at any CostCo warehouse location.

This projector is rated 5/5 Stars from ten users and 4/5 from one expert on Pricegrabber. Some specs on the projector include: 1280x720, 1100 Lumens, 5500:1, HDTV Compatible.

Pricegrabber Price: $1,818.95 - $2,399.00

  1. Go to CostCo.com (Panasonic PT-AE900U)
  2. Add to cart and checkout
  3. $400.00 Panasonic mail in rebate

Final Price: $1,599.00 + Shipping (~ $24.00) After Rebate

Ya, I have been scouting this projector to build a home theatre around. Not sure if I want a DLP projector or a LCD though. Some LCDs have the screen door effect, but I am sure this projector masks that quite well. What I really like about this projector are the 2 component inputs and the HDMI input. Can't wait till this thing drops even lower.

the weak link is that paltry 1100 lumen bulb. i wouldn't recommend using this unless it were in a completely dimmed room as it likely won't perform too well in daylight.

You're right...not the most lumens. However, I have this exact unit and with the right screen I can use it with my windows open and the brightest daylight. Not a bad project for the $$...

PT-AE900U Screen

What would be the best type of screen for best Performance in a darkened room with white walls and ceiling? Should I go with gray or matt white?

Thank you
