oh, it's cause: 1) the coupon was originally to be $10 off a $50 purchase, and 2) You get free shipping if your order's at least $50.

it's a pretty good deal if staples still has a $10 off $50 order somewhere...

I do understand that. But just to get the $10 off coupon you have to add $10.18 of extra stuff. Anyway, the final price (after adding $10.18 stuff and applying $10 off coupon) is going to be $40; how can you get free shipping on this [unless Staples is kind enough not to consider the coupon amount].
