Not sure if I'm asking for this the correct way...I may be interested in building my own pc using components I already have and installinging them in a tower w/motherboard and more powerful chip. Any deals out there? I will salvage memory, HD, CDRW, DVD-CDR, 3.5 disk drive, ethernet card from an existing HP Athlon 850 Mhz. Would like an inexpensive, more powerful alternative. Thanks in advance for your relpies!

If you go to your local computer store, or even CompUSA you should find barebones systems. I normally go to Micro Center and they have barebones systems there. I'm not sure if CompUSA has them. You can purchase something like a Pentium 4 2.0GHz with memory in a mid tower for about $200 or so, I believe. I'm not that sure on pricing but I know it's fairly inexpensive and they work well. I built one up for a friend when her old motherboard blew out and it worked great with her old parts. Look for the best deals on barebones systems. NewEgg might have a lot of them, since they're a more "hardcore" computer supplier.
