Pics - Bored Teenagers Steal Drink from Taco Bell

That is a huge drink! lol

I would have gotten their license plate number.

F'in teenagers... Where are the parents these days... I know it's only soda, but still, 5gallons? Thats seriously ripping off an establishment.. Then taking glee in seeing an accident and taking more glee is calling a woman fat and obsece and trying to take her photo is seriously f'ed up... Don't kids today have anything better to do then take pleasure is calling ppl obscene names and being a menance to society?

Well, there is also the entire issue of how the soda would become very flat and would suck to drink after doing all this.

Nah, between all those kids, that jug was gone in an hour.. Long before it would have gotten flat to any degree.. If they were really smart, they would have shot some C02 in the jug before closing it up for awhile... But, well, there's not that smart....

I bet the soda machine is gone by now. refill upon request!!

how could they drink the 5 gallon soda?? i guess the soda will be ended in the toilet because i think no one wants to drink non-carbonated soda.

Haha, dumb kids. I'm a teenager, but not like this! LOL

This is why I don't teach high school anymore. I remember being stupid as a teenager, but never like this!

Common , while im not taking up for them , its not that bad a crime , yeah they stole coke from tacobell , that must have costed taco bell like 50 cents for the whole gallon in actuall costs . They did not rob them , sell drugs , do drugs , hurt anyone.
Stop overacting ppl its just kids having fun , i am happy to see this spirit in Kida rather than the Jaded we do what you tell us or the other Extreme drug peddlers.

It didnt hurt anyone , Taco bell may actually benifit from the publicity

Their plan to get a free 5 gallon drink isn't that inventive.
I saw someone posting that they only made 1 trip to the soda machine and competely drainned 1 soda dispenser. He used a cone, small rubber hose, and a container stuffed in a duffle bag.

baja blast

Remember the old Chi Chi's commercials where the man would keep getting refills on salsa and pour them into containers in his coat! Taco bell could use this kids' story as a promotion. As for the drink itself, I think it tastes terrible.

Well, I'd have to disagree with dehawk here in a couple things.. That IS Theft because it's beyond a reasonable amount. 5 gallons not theft? :hmm: 50 cents? I'd also disagree there.. Hurt anyone? Not physically, yet that is. It did however hurt the profit margin that night. Not that I enjoy the markup on food or anything these days, but theft is theft and with that means somebody looses something. Be it tangible items, or money loss..

Over-reacting, kids having fun.. Hmm, I don't remember ever robbing a store, trashing a car, or vandilizing anybody for 'fun' as a kid, or adult. It's people who think what kids today are doing is 'okay' and 'just being kids' that need some assistance in the real world as well as the kids.. Being a responsible person, a person with morals and comnon sense is being a respectible person and citizan. Thinking kids 'having fun' by stealing, cheating, robbing, and vandilizing is just plain wrong. A respectable person sees kids having fun by helping others, being involved is afterschool projects, having a hobby, being involved with school and actually helping their parents instead of ignoring them and cussing them out..

Now how can you think Taco Bell would enjoy this kind of publicity? An ad saying, "Come here, where free refills really means Unlimited".. Yea, a national chain is going to enjoy being made fun of by showing kids steal 5 gallons worth of soda.. "Come here, theft is easy!" Gimme a break..

I know ppl who will walk into a KFC or MickyD's with one of their KFC or MicDs cups and get a refill. I don't have a problem with that, considering when you order something, you generally don't get a refill, or maybe one right before you leave. Another, if the cup is still usable, it's less then 2 days old because after that, they're rank.. Getting 2 refills is Fair imo. I don't personally do this because I can't stand fast food that much.

Your right about at least they're not doing drugs or selling them.. But that's not to say it's not beyond them if they're never punished for anything they do. I also find it strange that there's only 1 girl in that entire group.. I'd venture a guess as to what else is going on, but that's not a topic for the forum...

Ok lets be technical about this , there is no rule on the no of refils you can get , there is also no rule saying that you cant fill a bottle with a drink , ppl spill their drinks and go and fill another up all the time.

As for theft , its not theft , how many times have you gone opened your fridge and found the small saches of ketchup or hotsauce lying around after the burger or food you bought is over. How often have you taken extra napkins only to toss the unused ones outsides. Does this make us all theves, i think not

There has to be a difference between robbery and a prank or ppl having fun , they did not thrash anything , they didnt even break a law in my mind, yes what they did was unethical but not UNLAWFUL.

As for the Refill the next day , dont you think that thats hurting the profit margin and why does 2 refils become acceptable. To me that is more of a crime than what they did

Finally as i said i do not take up for this but i would much rather have kids playing pranks like this than getting involved in Violence , drugs and sex and this is IMO only. I know that they are possible into all of it too , but ive seen too many kids depressed and popping pills and trying to act like the weight of the world is on their sholders before snapping or becoming addicts. I never went to this extreme as a kid but i did pull some pranks with doorbells and newspapers with neighbours and it all was for fun , never to hurt anyone

As far as Publicity goes , well look what the submissive chicken did for Burger king , you dont have to advertise something to actually advertise its just getting recognition to your product , heck ppl will feel sorry for them and possibly visit them more.

I dont know if anyone of you agree with me but as i said IMO

I'll only reply to the one point. I think we've both made our thoughts known.

How would 2 refills be more of a crime then taking 8-9 refills? This logic boggles my mind..

Its not a question of either being a crime kramer , the way i meant it was A drink is offered with free refills for the point of going along with the meal right , now if ppl reuse the cup for the next 2 or 3 days its as UNETHICALL and filling up the gallon bottle as you are not using it the way it was intended to be used.

Now its not a CRIME at all neither are , they say free refils , they dont specify for that day or how many , or that you must drink it in the store.

As i said Kramer i am not taking up for them , it is a LOW all im saying is neither is a crime

Nuff said . AND btw i do agree with your other post , society has hit a low

misconception

wow that was a complete waste of time. the story was completely idiotic, and i hope to god that when I have children they wont be so totally lame and steal soda from Taco Bell and post pictures like it was the smoothest thing ever. but yeah i agree, better then selling drugs but not much better than anything else.

first off, a lesson in marketing and economics... the profit margin of soda to Taco bell, mcdonalds, etc is astronomical. Fast food restaurants make a killing off of soda almost more and perhaps even more than they do on food. The suppliers (pepsi, coke etc) practically give the formula to the restaurants for pennies on the dollar. Its a market strategy to penetrate the the specific demographics to develop and enforce brand recognition. In allowing soda companies (in Taco Bell's case, I believe the big parent company is Pepsi) to put their product in their restaurants, soda companies reward the restaurant by proving nearly free formula. The restaurant in turn, gets to sell the crap for a tremendous mark up and keep the profits.

Also, soda companies buy fast food restaurants so they can get free advertising and more market penetration to display and expose their soda. They are barely even concerned with the food itself, which is more like complement to their product. Soda formula is so cheap, the aluminum can in which cokes or even the bottle holding water (Dasani, Aqua Fina) is much more expensive than the soda itself.

Taco bell lost about .05 from the 5 gallon waste of teenage time. and it wasnt theft, its not an arrestable crime unless the manager asked them to leave and they did not, or they returned afterwards. if they stole food from a buffet that would be theft, but since restaurants allow you take the drink with you, its not. its the manager's fault for not recognizing what they were doing.

True , though i think .5 is a lil low , your not taking into accunt the electricty and the cost of rent and employee salary in the drink cost. Possibly 10 to 30 Cents for the Ingredients , remeber they have to use purified water provided only by pepsi so that must cost a bit

taco bell aside, and I know this is America, but what about the cigs and the alcohol...if youre a parent, would you like your kids doing everything they just described...

Unbelievable!

As the parent of two soon-to-be teenagers, this horrifies me...I think the biggest thing that bugs me is the total lack of respect for adults, or for other people in general. The stealing of the soda (and yes, it's stealing, that was certainly their intent or they wouldn't have been running, would they?) was more than just a "prank" - and I think it shows that they're capable of going much further if left to their own devices without adult intervention...how much it cost Taco Bell makes no difference whatsoever. I busted my then 8 year old son for taking a package of crackers from a salad bar on our way out of a restaurant - because he didn't have salad with his dinner and more importantly, his attitude was that he was "getting away with something".

The drinking? The cigarettes? I can't even put into words how much this activity disgusts me in kids this young. I was no saint when I was a teenager, and I'm certainly not against drinking responsibly and LEGALLY (I bowl 3 nights a week, so that's a given), but my parents knew where I was and who I was with - they were involved in my life as I will most certainly continue to be in my kids lives....even working a full time job and having many part time hobbies. Unfortunately too many parents don't stay involved and this is the result.

Okay - off my soapbox and back to work!
