Please adopt or foster a child that needs you

Nice to see someone trying to make a difference. This is way better than sending 83 cents a day to Africa, imo. We need to take care of our own before we try to take care of everyone else.

Way to go, mez. Good for you.

my little brother was adopted. you must be a very strong woman i cant imagine bringing children into your home and raising them like they are your own and then having to let them go to another family.

Me and my bother were both adopted so I am all for families adopting children. If I could I would adopt all the kids that were up for adoption.
Thanks for the post. It is a great one!

I'm all for adoption, but can't stand the lawyer's fees. My wife and I haven't been able to conceive. We've done the foster care thing...had 15 kids altogether. Now we are looking at adoption but are just blown away by the costs.

Spaz,
Have you looked into overseas adoption? I have a girlfriend who adopted a child from India and is in the process of adopting another. She said it is way cheaper. She adopted through Wacap.

Hey Spaz, Did you try going through a np agency or community - based resource such as Easter Seals? I'm a legaly blind woman so I am a champion for kids w/ "dis"abilities ....

Thanks so much LiveSquid - couldn't have my own kids, so I assumed there was a reason why ... too many kids, not enough arms, perhaps???? I appreciate your words of support!

Thanks sharon and ladymez! I'll look into those agencies. We just had a recent scam in Utah for adoptions and it is things like this that make me leary of the whole thing.

Ya know, I may be being very politically incorrect here but I've got to say that there is a special place in hell for those who see $$$ when childrens' lives are at stake!!!

So, I hope you are not saying that you should risk your family's future to adopt. If you do not have an employer that will help to cover or completely cover the costs...and you can't cover them...how can you start off in so much debt that everything could be taken away from you? It does not make sense. Maybe I misinterpreted your statement. Perhaps you were talking about people that only adopt or do foster care to get money from the state or government. That is totally not right.

Perhaps she meant those that cause the process to cost a lot of money.

I understood it to mean the people who foster kids just for the state stipend.

I'm guessing she was referring to the link Spazntwich provided about the scam in Utah. These people should burn you know where.

We could probably all agree with that

Pass the kerosene

well, we could start there

I was replying to Spaz's comment about the adoption scam in Utah but, I agree with what you thought as well. There have been stories reported that families have takien in fosters seemingly just for the $ and that is also reprehensible!!!!!!! I was watching the Dr Phil show one day and he had as a guest a woman who claimed to be pregnant and used her "baby" to scam desperate couples into giving her $ for "medical expenses" and rent. She spent all the $ on moronic stuff and then had the audacity (when she was found out and brought on the show to tell her side of the story) to claim that it was because she didn't like herself needed attention!! I dodn't know what happened after the show but I hope she got arrested and they threw the book at her!!!!!!!!!! :cussing:
