It has been this price for quite some time... I have been eyeing it for months now. It gets good reviews on sears.com... some say it is as good as the ripstik. I am still wishy-washy about it b/c I don't know if my son is coordinated enough yet... hummmm! Wish they had local pick-up (that would probably seal the deal)!!!

I picked one up a couple of months ago. Sears has a program called Shipvantage that provides free shipping, similar to Amazon Prime. They also offer a free 30-day trial of Shipvantage. That lets you get free shipping on the board -- just be sure to call them to cancel it before the 30 days are up.

I've ridden both the hi-tide board and the ripstick. I think the hi-tide is easier to maneuver -- it seems to have a bit more flex between the two halves than the ripstick, so it turns more easily. Apparently this makes it a little harder to do tricks on it, but I haven't tried doing any. It does require good balance and coordination, but is a lot of fun. If your son is young, you probably want to make sure he wears a helmet and pads when he rides it.

I am glad I got on the deal yesterday $17.99 with free shipping...free shipping without the vantage deal thing. I bought 2...one to give as a gift!
