What do I lose without the DVI input?

DVI provides a true digital picture. You don't get the highest quality picture on an LCD by having an analog 15 pin connection. Of course your video card would have to accept a DVI input too. As an aside, if you put on a 15 pin adapter to a monitor's DVI plug, which many people do, you lose the benefits of all digital.
