Psychics

I happened to watch Sylvia Browne the other night. Do you think there are people who have special powers? Some of them are so fake and can't get any information right. But Ms. Browne seems different. Any and all comments and/or opinions would be appreciated.:convinced:

I know people that relied on a psychic and this psychic was amazingly right on a lot of stuff but being the skeptic that I am, I always made fun of them and attributed the psychic's high batting average to his ability to skillfully pick up physical and verbal cues and make up general statements that lead the victims to answer their own questions. Well, my friend's dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and I said, he's probably got six months. The psychic said the father would eventually be OK. Well, because of this statement, she didn't spend enough time with her father before he died around 4-5 months after his diagnosis. Sad.

I'm a skeptic as well. I used to heavily believe in psychics though. Everybody has intuition (especially women). Some people have a more developed sense of it though. If one goes to a psychic and the psychic tells them for example 'I see great fortunes in your future', we want to believe that that is going to happen. Subconsciously we try to help those "predictions" along. Horoscopes are a good example of this. "Do this on this day and this will happen to you". If it's a remote possibility that it could happen we convince ourselves that it had and that furthers our belief that physics and horoscopes are legit. (sorry, I couldn't think of a better word than legit)
This all causes people to act irrationally. Ex.. Psychic told you you were going to win the lottery so you quit your job after you told your boss off. Granted that was an extreme example, but I hope you get my point.

I do believe there are real psychics out there, it's just finding the real ones!! Has anyone ever seen that show on Lifetime with Lisa Williams, a real life medium, well, it really seems real to me, you have to watch it, it's amazing! Now, I'm not saying that she is definately for real, I mean, who knows, but i do think there are real ones out there, like I said, it's just weeding throught the fake ones. One thing that made me really think Lisa could be legit is that there were a few people who told her absolutely nothing and just stayed quiet while she was talking and it turned out she was right on the money!!!
But I guess I'm just a really open person, I also believe in spirits and stuff, not ghosts, just spirits.Anyway's that's just how I feel!
