What is the difference between the two? I just purchased a digicam and camcorder that will take either SD or MultiMediaCards. I am hoping someone here could explain to me the difference between the two. I looked a couple places but could not find anything. :confused:

That's a great question! ...it's one I can't personally answer, but I think I found some places that will give you some info:
* http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/digitallife/handhelds/features/story/0,3800001555,39008492-2,00.htm
* http://www.gizmobytes.com/sdvsmmc.php
also, * http://www.open-mag.com/features/Vol_17/storage_standards/storage_standards.htm some of the info here could be a bit old (mentions that max capacity of SC card is 64mb), but still provides a nice summary of the differences btwen the MMC & SD card.

Basically, sounds like the main difference is that SD cards are slightly thicker, possibly slightly more durable, potentially transfer data at a faster rate, are generally more expensive and "have technology built-in to allow copyright protection."

Well, SD cards are probably cheaper at Spoofee prices than MMC cards. 512MB for $25 or so is pretty good.

Thanks alot, that was just what I was looking for. :D

I don't know what the heck I was doing wrong, not to be able to find any info myself. :confused:

Now I will have to keep my eyes open for deals. I never really paid that much attention to the deal on those. Thanks

There you go, still active. I bought a Kingston 512MB CompactFlash for my Canon S410 for $23 and I bought a Kingston 512MB Secure Digital for my girlfriend's Minolta for $29, all from Buy.com. The cards are pretty nice, fast for standard speed. Their rebates are very reliable. I got my one for the CF a while back and the one for the SD was just mailed the other day, so I should get it in a couple days.

By the way, rebates are handled by CTG just incase you were wondering.
