Commercial quote

"It's not lacking any meat and that's what real women need."

Not a fan of Quizno's sandwiches anyway, but 30-40% is about right for a sub as I have experience with them. Why do you think chains like Domino's Pizza abandoned subs? It costs more to make a 12" sub that you can sell for $6 than it does to make a pizza you can sell $10. Not to mention if you make subs, it takes longer time and thus more labor to make than a pizza. One person can crank out a decent amount of pies, but it takes a few people to crank out a decent amount of sandwiches.

refraining from eating at quiznos, obviously does not support the franchisee

but continuing to eat there supports the corporate structure that currently takes advantage of the franchisee, because most of the money is going back to the corporation at the expense of the franchisee. either quiznos needs to change its franchise policies, or the whole company needs to go out of business. getting free food at quiznos doesnt benefit anyone, except your stomach.

I've wondered about coupons and franchisees. Does the franchisee get fully or partially reimbursed by the franchisor for the value of the coupon, or how does that work?

Stay away from Quiznos, they are evil.

Truly brought a pain in my stomach just reading that article...

I know of this individual that had about a 2 week delay opening his Subway restaurant because the delivery of the corporate-forced-purchase booths for customers to eat in was late...I could almost see the tears in this guys face daily...keep in mind that this is their livelyhood

Generally, franchisees DO NOT get reimbursed for coupons. It is considered part of the "advertising" you pay for in your franchise fees.

If Quizno's corporate puts coupons out, the idea is that hopefully it will bring more customers in and generate more revenue.

Quiznos should be embarassed by the recent public notification of their greed. They ain't too smart to realize in the long run, what they're doing is detrimental by reaping double profits from being a franchisor and being a middle man that is forced down its franchisees throat. Ain't smart to just realize full short term gains without placing their franchisees in place to succeed and help the franchise grow in the future.

franchisees in my opinion do get reimbursed PARTIALLY by either having less royalties to be paid or the franchise reimbursed them with credits to their supplies. This is typical for brand licenses too.

But isnt this why coupons and bargains are always advertised as "at participating locations"? So if my local franchise decides to honor the coupon, thats his choice, and so Im not really taking advantage of them..

Not necesarilly. If you take a chain like McDonald's or Domino's some stores are corporate owned, thus the corp stores may honor them but the franchises will not.

If you take a chain that is wholly corporate with no franchises, such as Dearden's family of restaurants, including Red Lobster and Olive Garden, their promotions and coupons are valid at all locations.

I ate this prime rib sub a few weeks ago, and while I thought it was extremely good, after reading this article, I won't go to Quizno's again. Why? The article, for one good reason. The second reason...

I'm tired of going into all these establishments (7-11, Gas Stations, Service Stations, Chain Restaurants) that are owned by middle-eastern people. Here in Michigan, you're pretty much out of luck trying to find one of those places that's American-owned. They buy businesses because the government gives them tax-free loans for coming from an oil-producing country. They drive around in Lexus' and Mercedes', they live in huge houses (which usually are oddly build right smack in the middle of a tiny neighborhood of tiny houses - maybe to appear superior?). They get all of this because of our stupid ass government giving them 7-years tax free. I have actually asked several middle-eastern people about this and they said it's true. When their 7-years runs out, they turn around and sell the business to a family member who can get another loan for 7-years. WTF. My boyfriend is a veteran. Let's see how long it takes him to get a loan to start a business or buy a home...

My third reason - because businesses like these are bad for your butt, thighs, and hips. Stories like this should convince people to stay at home and cook healthy meals for their families. Stay away from fast food. It's fast at destroying families and your health, that's about it...

Shale is correct. I used to live in Detroit which has the largets Arab population outside of the middle east and I have worked for them as well. While generally good people to work for, they also told me about the 7 years.

However, not every franchise is owned by a person of Middle-Eastern decent. I worked for a franchisee who was born and raised in the US before, and we stole this land anyway and enslaved people while proclaiming freedom for everyone.

I'm sorry I didn't know that Quizno's was so hated!!!! Now I know. I have never been to a Quiznos anyways. Arghhhhhh, forgive me :)

OMG. I cant possibly hold my tongue on this one. You are a narrow-minded, intolerant bigot. You probably think that all of them are terrorists too. Its people like you who spread hate and distrust. Why dont you get mad at the government instead of the people who benefit from the unfair policies? The Middle Eastern people deserve as well as the Mexicans, Hondurans, Asians, etc to come to USA and make a better life. Its not their fault that the government treats them differently.

In New York there are Latin-Americans who havent worked for generations because of the welfare policies. Do you hate them too? I can tell you for sure that if the government had a special policy that would benefit me I would take it. Im pretty sure you would too.

Pffft. Who cares if its hated? If you like it, eat it. I dont eat it very often, but I still will.

the point of the article was about how Quiznos is ripping its franchisees off...not about how we shouldn't go there (which will worsen the franchisees' predicament).

I also agree with LiveSquid, I'm quite shocked that something racist would be posted on spoofee. If the 7 year deal is true, maybe it isn't fair to apply that to only non-American races. Maybe that deal was intended to give immigrant a chance of freedom and help them catch up and succeed in this land of opportunity. Although when you do abuse the system, then it is bad. But Shale sounded to me that it was mostly wrong just because they're a particular color or race, which is quite ignorant and racist imo.
