I believe it is $199 for students also. All of the outlet prices are the same for students and regular consumers. I believe because of this price drop, we can anticipate a new and improved iPod Video... Like always, Apple has something new & better! :D

You have to show proof that you are a student attending college. Most of the time they ask you for your student ID, and then the company cross checks the information. Excelzus, you can also try buying a brand new ipod through your college which is 100 dollars cheaper.

Hey, Thanks for the reply.

Actually I was asking more of how you could get it at $179 online. I know you can click the EDU page, but when I do that and go to the refurbished section, the prices are still the same?
 
I don't think they apply to refurbished items...that's probably why it's still the same price. The new ones will work though...$30 off.

I graduated last month. By "cross check", would they actually contact the university directly to verify I was still a student, or would my ID alone suffice?

unless they've changed their cross checking methods, you're good to go. i used my old college ID a year after i graduated and still got a student discount on an ipod 2 years ago.

they punch in some info from your student ID into the computer at the register. i have no idea what info they put in, but it worked for me!
 
They write down your info because you're only allowed only one ipod family purchase at the student rate per school year. So you can't buy a nano at the education price.. and later get a video ipod.. For the $169, I think you meant 4GB NANO REFURBISHED instead..:tongue:
