Restaurant .com is offering a 80% off coupon. You can buy gift certificates for your local restaurants at discount prices + 80% off. Expires 11/24/08

1. Go to Restaurant.com

2. Enter a zip code to shop.

3. Click Add to Cart for the certificates you'd like.

4. Click "Check Out" and enter code SURPRISE for 80% off. Click "Recalculate Total" to apply your savings.

I got it but when my fiance tried the code it was invalid. I tried again and its invalid now. Thats a bummer because we would have orders as many as we could have. $2 for $40 worth of great lunches at our favorite Mexican restaurant is still awesome. We never even knew Restaurant.com existed for Gift Certificates.

Can't APPLY Code

Anyone else having a problem with entering the code? Nothing happens when I hit apply. I don't see a recalculate button.
 
I have never tried this, but for $2 for a $25 cert. it is worth a try. I hope the restaurant honors it. This will allow us a resaonable way to occasionally eat out.
 
every time i look for restaurants near my area, i can never find something worthwhile.

im from the bay area, so if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
 
I used one 2 weeks ago the last time they did the 80% off and it worked perfectly.
 
Does anyone know how this works on the restaurant's side? When I buy a $10 coupon for 60 cents, how badly does the restaurant get shafted?

I know a nice place that Restaurant.com has coupons for, but if I'm totally cheating the restaurant by bringing coupons there, then I'll feel guilty. Especially since I bought 8 coupons :convinced:.

I'm not sure how the restaurants get there money from restaurant.com. I do know I have used several of the certificates and various restaurants and never had an issue with them. I did get a notice a while back that a restaurant that we had a certificate for quit accepting them so we got a $25 gift certificate to any restaurant.com merchant instead.

Once you purchase the certificates that is all you need to do and that is the only charge from them. When you go to the restaurant take the certificate with you and present it to the water when you set down. At the end of you meal you'll get the discount as it is on the certificate. Like 50% off, $10 off, $20, etc... Make sure you look at the terms and conditions. Several restaurants have restrictions like the meal total, not including drinks, must be more than $xx. Or they are limited just to M - F or just lunch. As long as you follow the rules you'll be fine.

Yes ,exactly. .precisely, the reason why I stopped using them. The restuarant has signed up with restuarant.com and doesnot receive anything from this coupon. ie. and we are supposed to provide more exposure./customers/ and an opinion survey. which will help the restuarant.. One thing for sure, if many folks start using coupons. the restuarant is bound to disconnect its arrangement with restuarant.com
 
The restaurants can limit the number of coupons offered a month. They want people to buy them, it is a form of advertising for them.

The waiters still make their money because a tip is usually included. Also they normally require a minimum purchase, so they make enough to cover the cost of the food they are using for you at the least. I think you can also only use one coupon per restaurant per month at most (unless that was just for the restaurant I used).

They are hoping for good repeat customers. Some require a party of four to use a $25 coupon, these guys still probably make a profit on 4+ adults having a decent meal.

It's silly to worry about hurting a restaurant by being attracted to their method of advertising.

You don't get charged for anything except the coupons that you buy. I've used this for years, and it always works.

Unicorn is OK at best (WAY overpriced, food is average). But $2 for a $25 GC -- can't go wrong...

Sushi Ko is also decent (although I have only eaten there WHILE sake bombing -- so take that comment with a grain of salt).
 
Thanks! Saving money on food right now is a must. Though I'm sure the restaurants are doing this to help drag in people. Seems like no one's eating out much these days.
 
80% Discount Does Not Work

Went to Restaurant.com as I have done many times in the past. After ordering everything, I could not click on the "APPLY" button to get the discount.

Normally, when you use the mouse to get the pointer over a button, the lower left side of the browser shows the URL (the web address) of the results of the button push. If you look at the apply button, it shows nothing, so that the button has been DE-ACTIVATED.
