Of course its projection. Its DLP. It says so in the description.

so how much do we actually save? 30% off a TV and the rest is full price?

DLP or any projection TV is becoming obsolete. If you need a big screen, it's a cheap option. If you want crisp picture and wall-mountable, flat panel is the only way to go. Even Plasma is going obsolete due to resolution limits. LCD is the present and future.

True, there are more LCD than plasma's in the market. I would snatch a plasma RIGHT NOW. Their picture quality and colors are way superior to LCD and DLP.

Resolution...I don't even know why people go for the '1080p', it looks the same as '1080i'. 1080p is a marketing technique, you only need a 1080p TV if you're looking at 50'+. Anything lower, a 720p HDTV will look the same. It all depends how far you sit, a person who has a 480p EDTV when sitted far enough, the TV will look like a 1080p HDTV. Some test have proved on a projector, 720p and 1080p are very similar. I also have noticed that too. Besides, a good 720p plasma blows a 1080p LCD ANYDAY!

Pionner is the best brand for plasma
Panasonic is second

Samsung plasmas oversaturate the colors and their processors aren't par with the Panasonics.

LCD's always have higher resolution. Plasmas have good blacks, but LCD's are getting there. Plasmas and projections are dying out.

A good Bravia 1080p EATS a 720p plasma. Have you guys even seen the quality on these Bravias?

DLP has better quality imo, but of course it has a huge back.

Sony LCD's are the best in the market IMO. A Pioneer plasma should easily blow it away though...with somewhat of a price tag.

And what do you mean LCD's always have a higher resolution? I see some 1080p plasmas. Who cares if you say plasmas are dying out. This isn't a operating system that gets frequent updates. You'll simply have the best picture when it comes to HDTVs. Even if they do get discontinued, what do you lose?

Plasma's have good blacks, good colors, amazing static contrast ratio. The only reasons why a person would be getting a LCD is because of:

There is no risk of burn-in. Plasma's now have a very small chance of this.
When in high altitudes, plasmas can have a ringing sound.
Smaller screen sizes
Less glare
Lower power consumption

LCD's look better than Plasmas, period. Especially the high end Bravias that are just coming out.

Don't forget how heavy Plasmas are.

It depends on what your eyes like. Same as surround sound, only your ears can decide what is best.

Sony's LCD are top of the line for LCDs
Pioneer ElitE's are top of the line for Plasma, still looks better than Sony's IMO

Regardless of which is better, this projection TV is going out of style, and it is cheap right now. If you want a big screen at a low price, jump on this. I think a nice big TV is great for video games. Having a Wii party in front of a big screen is great. But if you wanna impress your neighbors, go for a large flat panel IMHO.

Don't forget how heavy Plasmas are. --Dont forget LCD are made of Plastic, Plasmas are made of Glass, giving you a clear picture

LCD's look better than Plasmas --Brighter right...moth to the flame bright
LCD have lag..even the new 120mhz, why are there no flesh tones on a LCD everybody is RED in color --Cartoon coloring LOL - Plasmas has true life colors

Most Sony LCDs use Samsung panels anyway these days. Funny how little that extra $500-$1000 gets you! (besides maybe a pretty glass frame and a "Sony" emblem..)
