SBC Yahoo! has lowered their price on the DSL service. You can get 384kbps~1.5mbps downstream / 128kbps upstream for $26.95/month for a year. Free activation and modem.

damn, not available in my area...it would have been great since verizon dsl charges me $39.99. Need to find a new one...

btw any help would be appreicated...looking for one around boston, ma...cheap dsl services...^_^

Just a note, I signed up with SBC Yahoo last April, when they had the $34.95 a month for a year DSL package. That is now expiring. SBC has now offered another 12 months at $26.95 a month package, which I took immediately. I just note this for people who may be worried about the price jacking up the following year... like I was. I think SBC wants to keep its customers, so they will continue the offer.

To lap1314134, SBC is a telephone company, so only people with SBC telephone service can get it. Since you have Verizon, you're stuck with "Verizon-based" DSL services. Unless you're going to get cable, don't even think about switching from Verizon. You'll have more headaches when something goes wrong, as it will probably take close to a month to get anything fixed. Plus, Verizon at $29.95 or $34.95 is your best bargain. If you're paying $40, you shouldn't be, as even without a good phone package, you can get 1500/128 Verizon DSL service for $34.95.

I ordered it, but they have to test my line to determine if DSL will work with my phone number.

Speakeasy has 6mb DSL. Our local ISP has 3mb for $49.00 for a year. So things are speeding up. We should have 6mb soon.

The thing that attracts customers to SBC DSL rather than a faster ISP is the price. Most are beginner users to which 1500k is more than fast enough for regular web surfing, so most users attack it for price.

I want Usenet with unlimited downloads & I get that from my ISP, which is a little more $....

Isn't SBC on strike?
