I got a Senseo coffee maker for Christmas. The coffee is awful!!! :(
Has anyone else tried this? I called the manufacturor and was told to descale it with white vinegar. I did that 3 times and rinsed it with water. It still tastes horrible! I wonder if there is a different coffee I can use?

I'm not 100% positive, but I think there are other coffee pods that fit the Senseo coffee maker.

There is also in the gadget book I think (Carole Wright) a coffee pod that you put your own coffee in it's made if plastic you fill it and snap it together. I bought one and it works great!

I think Folgers makes a pod that works in this pot. And, maybe at least one other company.

But like you, I don't like the coffee. It tastes like instant coffee to me. I gave my pot to my friend. She loves the coffee. But, she likes instant coffee.

I like my Senseo. I've been making my own pads/pods since the starter bags that came with it ran out. You just use a 1/4 cup measuring cup as a form, and fold a small basket type filter into shape. Use whatever cofee you like, adjust the amount to taste, and there you go.

What I don't like about Senseo is it only makes one cup at a time.

I hate everything about Senseo..I went through two machines and both times they leaked and I burned my hand real bad.I threw two brand new machines in the garbage.:mmph:

I returned the Senseo and got a Tassimo. I want to say it is great! I had a cup of Seattles Best breakfast blend this morning and it was fantastic!

Sorry about your hand. Most of these "single serve" machines operate on a pressure system. With the Senseo, if you don't place the pad/pod properly I can see how you'd breach the gasket, and that would allow pressurized boiling water to come out.

With the Tassimo and Keurig that I've seen, the pod placement seems less open to error.

(and if those machines are still in your trash, I'd be willing to take them off your hands ...)

Sara Lee sent me 3 1.00 off coupons for Senseo pods. I already got rid of my Senseo. PM me if you would like these coupons.

I'm editing because the coupons are now claimed.
