I purchased a firewire cord on eBay and received this email after I paid for the item using Paypal...

It had a bunch of html codes and emails in the email as well, but that was the only decipherable message. It appears to be sent from the eBay member. Shady or should I just reply?

I am NO expert here, and we have lot's of them here. But I've bought lot's of stuff from ebay lately, paid w/paypal and not rec'd that message. If I were you I'd use the link through ebay to send the seller a message and see if they know anything about it. I'm pretty sure it's against ebay policy to contact a buyer or seller any other way, (although I could be wrong and if I am someone here will correct me-I'm too tired to go look it up right now! :)

...what's a firewire cord?

its a cable kinda like a usb cable. Most Video Camcorders use firewire cables which allow you to transfer the video from your camcorder to your pc.

I agree with cybermon, Go to ebay and log in, then reply to the seller. Never click on links in the email no matter how real it looks.

It is not against ebay policy to contact each other outside of the ebay mail system. They do not want you performing any monetary transactions outside of ebay. (To be safe.)

Check their feedback. Does it seem odd? What does the item listing say? Try to talk to them through ebay if it makes you uncomfortable replying to the email.

Ahh-Haa! I have a camcorder that records on those little mini-dvc tapes and I've figured out how to put it onto a video tape through the VCR but I really want to do it on the computer! So it can be done! Plus my camera is an Easy Share Kodak and I can't get the video to work w/the program on my pc. But when I load the Kodak software it runs constantly in the background and screws up everything else. Can anyone recoment any software that covers it all...dvc tapes and camera video? I might just have to go but the Best Buy guys again! If I were them I'd run when I see me coming.. ...but they're always so helpful!

I agree. Use the link provided by ebay to contact the seller.

Thank you to all.

It turns out it was a Paypal generated email and the seller contacted me himself and explained it (without me even asking!). All is well. Thank you!
