I've been wondering - how can companies afford to give free one year subscriptions? Are they all obligation-free?

They make all their money through advertisement. Nothing says advertise in my magazine than high subscriber numbers. And yes most of them are obligation-free, other than the SPAM you may receive via email or whatever. :D
 
actually, i'm a college student and i get stuff magazine sent to my dorm for free. i've gotten 4 issues so far, and the only junk mail i ever get are for apartments around campus. those are obviously not a result of getting the magazine.
 
Ya know what's fun - fill these out for friends. When they get them, they wonder what's going on....had one buddy get in trouble with his wife when she thought he'd spend the money on subs to Blender, FMH, Stuff and Maxim. Boy was she pissed. :cussing: :) :)
 
No more Free Subs

I got the attached email yesterday..........too many requests for free sub - now they are giving out 4 free issues.
