(Sold Out) Amazon - Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii Available on 12/29

I just saw a PS3 go for $635 on eBay...I was interested in reselling the PS3s (yes I know it's unethical) but that turned me off.

Expect the Amazon site to be hit really hard tomorrow.

not worth reselling any more. would cause a loss of money probably beetween shipping and fees.

I bought a 60GB PS3 off Ebay a few days before Christmas.
The seller had a 100% positive reading with close to 4000
positive feedbacks. My winning bid was $720. FedEx
2-day shipping was $37. Total price $757. The seller
even included the original BestBuy cash receipt.(original
purchase date showed 12/17)

I later went to my local BestBuy so they can do a receipt
"exchange" and now I have a new cash receipt with my
RewardZone number reflected.

The 60GB PS3 was given to my nephews on Christmas Day.
Don't need to tell you how excited they were... :)

I was debating on whether to mention this or not because Amazon traffic's gonna be bad enough with the PS3 sale, but they are also going to be selling Wii's at the same time. Here's the link.

I'm not really going for a PS3, but its interesting to note that a lot of people who bought them for resale are returning them since its hard to make a profit off of ebay now. You can probably go to your local Bestbuy and get one without much hassle, I've already seen two people post pictures of store's inventory this morning in response to the sudden returns.

My boyfriend just went to check at Bestbuy today. I saw 5 -6 PS3 and graped for us. He also called his friend to go there. So, it ended up like they got one each for them since they allowed only one per household.

:)

the seller prolly made $100 on the deal...with fees and all. Thats too much work for a measly $100. Not worth the effort to resell the PS3 on ebay these days.

Prolly not even 100 after insertion fees, final value fees, paypal fees. He probably didn't even make anything off of the shipping.

People are losing money on reselling PS3s... I saw three at my local Target last week go untouched... everyone who HAD to have a PS3 has already gotten one.

groove1 is right, resellers are lucky to break even after all the damn eBay and paypal fees...

eBay sale price $730

$650 = cost of 60gb PS3 plus 8.25% TX sales tax

$23 = paypal fee

$23 = ebay final value fee

$37 = featured ebay listing fee (to stand out from the flood of ps3s on the market

$2 = profit after shipping expenses

The trouble and time spent dealing with selling the ps3 = worthless.

I wonder why Amazon has chosen to do it like this... isn't this likely to cause their website to get super heavy traffic for four hours on Friday?

I've been reading what people think of these things. That Wii, for example, can be a lot of work on your arm with its controller. The ps3 might have some issues with reliability.

But for both consoles, there arent a lot of games specificially for it. A lot of games you can play on the other consoles too.

After posting I found a recall:
We have recently learned that Nintendo of America is voluntarily
recalling the Wrist Straps used with Controllers for the Nintendo Wii
Video Game System you recently ordered. If consumers swing the
hand-held "Wii Remote" game controllers using excessive force and
accidentally let go, the cord connecting the controller to the wrist
strap can break, potentially causing the controller to strike
bystanders or objects. You may find additional details about the
recall in the CPSC bulletin at:

http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07061.html.

Nintendo is offering to replace the original version of the wrist
straps for the Wii remote with a newer version, free of charge. For
more information, contact Nintendo toll-free at (800) 859-4519 between
6 a.m. and 7 p.m. PT, or visit their Web site at
www.support.nintendo.com.

If you purchased this item as a gift for someone, please let the
recipient know about this issue as soon as possible, and provide them
with the information to contact Nintendo for a replacement wrist
strap.

I am disappointed
I had it in my cart for $249. I went to check out and I get the item unavailable message. How lovely!

are you sure? i've been refreshing the wii site every 10 seconds and it never showed up as in stock. besides, the ps3 page is still showing the message about the 12/29 release. i'm going to keep refreshing for a while...

Upside to both consoles is backward compatibility. Wii's ability to play all of those old games is pretty appealing though. And it's C-H-E-A-P!

The 20GB is available right now. The 60GB was, already sold out.
