Netflix has a great Blu Ray selection.
Blockbuster online, also. That's a pretty good way to watch HD movies that you don't really want to buy (or re-buy if you have the DVD).
And Blu-Ray prices of new releases aren't really any more expensive than the DVDs, and rarely are Blu-Ray discs $30 (unless you're buying from a B&M Best Buy... and why would you do that?). From what I've seen, the prices are just about the same on both DVD and Blu-Ray when a movie is released, and usually the Blu-Ray has more bonus features (that's in addition to the better sound and video quality). Just as an example, the "max" edition of Wall-E (coming out in Nov) is $22.99 for 3-disc DVD and $28.95 on 3 disc Blu-Ray, both from Amazon. That's only $6 more for the Blu-Ray. And there's a two disc Blu-Ray that includes everything from the 3-disc DVD edition aside from a "digital copy" (for your ipod or whatever) that's only $24.95, making the Blu-Ray version only $2 more.
Other examples:
Pirates of the Caribbean: All three movies are only $20 each on blu-ray, and contain all the features and MORE of the "maxed out" DVD editions, which are sometimes
more than $20 each.
Harry Potter 5 movie Blu-Ray set: $105 ($20 per movie), and a new 5 movie set is being released in November that's available for pre-order for $89, only $18 per movie. The films are also available individually for $20 each aside from the most recent one.
In fact, virtually every single "major" film I've come across is available new on Blu-Ray at Amazon for around $20. There are occasional multi-disc, mega-feature-packed releases that are $25-$30, but by and large nearly every Blu-Ray movie is available for $20 or less. Which for the most part, is about what the DVDs cost when they're new releases.
