(Sold Out) Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10vi Noise Isolating Earphones for $99.99 Shipped

I'm skeptical of earphones that cost $425. The fact that these earphones are overpriced at $425 doesn't mean they are a bargain at $99.99. Obviously, if Amazon can sell them for $99.99, then the manufacturer is able to make a profit at that retail price. Thus, $425 was mainly markup.

The reviews all say that they sound good but $100 is still a lot of money for earphones. The Apple earphones with mic cost $30.

I have a pair and paid $400. They are worth every cent, even at $400.

MTAtech you've never experienced a great pair of headphone. Once you do, you'll pitch those $30 earphones in the trash. You will not be able to take how low quality they sound compared to these...

my guess these are only selling for $99 because UE was just purchased by Logitec and Logitec want to clear out the inventory with the old packaging. Not because they were overpriced in the 1st place.

Completely agree...

with the previous post. $425 for some tiny earphones? Really? I bought a pair that look just like those for $10 and have no complaints about them. Do people really buy these things? Even for $100? I'd love to have somebody give me a sales pitch on these.

BE_Compt, it would be like going from a 13" B&W OTA to 60" 1080P HD. You'll hear what you've been missing all this time.

Too bad . . . Another deal gone south, due to AMAZON's tendency to yank the special price as soon as it is promoted by Spoofee. Who does Amazon think they are!! DEAL IS DEAD, back to full price.

In Ear Monitors or IEMs are the top of the line in earphones. For audiophiles who care about how good their music sounds and adequate isolation, you'd have to go with one of these "$425" IEMs. These were not made for people don't already own thousands of dollars worth of audio equipment. Meaning it's mainly for musicians and crazy nutjobs like me who would rather stick pins in my ears than put Apple headphones in. :ack:

To be honest, they do NOT sound that great comparing to traditional cans even though they cost more. I own the Shure SCL-4 and it retails for $250, got it for $80. The highs and mids are amazing, but something as tiny as this simply cannot produce quality bass (simple physics). I've listened to the industry leading IEM for bass-heads and the disproportionate driver made the mids sound like Bose....Absolute garbage. But these are actually 3-speaker design IEMs so that shouldn't be a problem, it should have very very good range.

tl;dr: These are the best you can buy, expensive because of cutting edge technology, but still doesn't sound as good as equally priced cans.

Yeah I registered here so that I could point out that just because you can't tell the difference between awful headphones and great headphones doesn't mean that nobody can. My first pair of quality earbuds changed the way I listened to music and actually, I would say changed my life (much more music oriented now). Good luck with your Apple earbuds. I'm with BMW in that I'd rather stick pins in my ears before I listen to music on those things

Actually it is no conspiracy, all that happened is they sold out from Amazon.com. They are now available from Amazon Marketplace resellers, at the higher cost. :peace:

I have a different model by them and they do a great job; if I didn't have these I would have bought those first thing this morning.

This discussion about cost vs. sound makes me want to get out my Stax electrostatics tonight...

Funny... I'd say the same thing. I was never really much into the quality of my music until I upgraded to some nice Sennheiser buds. From then it has become an addiction. It's too bad these are sold out, although I do love my current Etymotic Research earbuds.

I completely understand that there would be a difference. And I am definitely not going try to tell anyone that my cheap ones sound just the same. But even based on your reviews, that's not enough for me to spend that much money on them. I'll take your word for it and let you enjoy them. I'll sacrifice a bit of sound and spend the rest on my kids. :-)
