Sony Playstation 3 60GB for $599.99 Shipped

Stopped in a target looking for Wiis last week and found three of these. Went back this week and they still had two left. The demand has definately died down.

Bestbuy at my local mall has over 30 of these in stock and has had a constant stock for the last two weeks. Looks like MS and Nintendo defiantly beat out Sony this time, too bad too because that means less competition and that's bad for us consumers.

They were stupid to think they could rip us off with the price of a gaming system. The trick to making money is to get us on the price of games.

I bought one of these just to try it and returned it this past weekend. It's the exact same thing as the 360 but with a sleeker controller and blu-ray dvd player. Just wasn't worth the money in the long run. And the selection of games is just awful right now, which is to be expected but they could've done much better.

i guess its ok just because you save money on the tax. but i need some games to come out first...

i dont think the demand has died down...it's just that there is more supply to go around. Its true there are not too many games out but if you like blu-ray and have an HDTV with 1080p capability, this is really worth getting. This unit can act as a center piece of any entertainment center... it's sleek, quiet, and does everything you need it to do. When I get my 50" LCD flat panel this spring, i will get a PS3 also. With HDMI connection i'm sure it'll be just amazing.

I talked to someone at my local gamestop and he said the sales of Wii's are blowing out PS3 right now. First because of the price and second because the Wii is something different a new gaming experience not just better graphics. He also told me PS3 doesnt have too many games which is hurting the sales.

it's a good price, if you don't want to pay the tax, then just go to amazon. thanks

I think it's worth it.

The PS3 is an awesome piece of machinery and just looks so sleek. As long as you have an HDTV and component cables or HDMI, it will look great. And the Blu-Ray player is great. I seriously think this is the best value especially in the end. 360 is doing good right now but ultimately, the strong Playstation franchise and all the future games should give Sony the better system. The Wii is still good and might win the next-gen war but I definitely think that the 360 will come in last.

In an interview with Nintendo of America President he said that only 17% of people have HDTV's so that's why the Wii doesn't have an HDMI connect option. I have both an HDTV and a Wii plus got the component cables to get better viewing on my tv. With my HDTV weighing in at a nearly featherweight 26" I didn't see the need for the PS3 of which the cost would of prevented me from buying any games and wouldn't of been appreciated on anything less than a 50-plus-inch tv -- or so I'm told. I think that the PS3's graphics are amazing but the Wii is so much fun that the playability of the system is worth so much more than simple stunning visual nice things. After all the mosy popular and addictice game of all time is Tetris and that's just a bunch of blocks! Orginally debuting in 96 shades of black/green :)

Keep in mind, that for about the same price as the ps3 ($599) you can get a wii ($250) and an xbox 360 ($299-399). Then you get the best of both worlds, HD video games and innovative games. You also get access to the exclusive titles offered by two systems instead of just one. You get access to a ton of old NES/SNES/N64/Gamecube games with the wii, and xbox and old arcade games with the 360. Not to mention the ability to download SD and HD TV shows and movies for the 360. Why anyone would prefer to get a single console which has a lot fewer games is beyond me. Yes the PS and PS2 were nice but the PS3 is dead.

The Wii is still sold out here in N. California. All the stores have been bone dry for awhile. Walmart had some last Sunday, word was you needed to be there at 5:30am to secure 1 of the 18 units.

I have heard that Nintendo won't be shipping any more units to stores till March. The inventory that stores have now are ones they have held back so they can do the bundle deals to pump up the profit made on each one.
