1000:1 contrast ratio is very poor. 3000:1 is the leqast I could consider
 
i bought one of these on black friday,i'm happy with it. its no ultrasharp but for the price it wouldn't be. i use it for gaming and it doesn't disappoint.
 
Soyo screwed me on a large rebate once - $100. (Since I'm a regular on this board and on FW, I know how to do a rebate - there is no way I fouled it up).

Also the item they screwed me on was a motherboard. It was nothing but trouble and finally blew up (literally - smoke came out of the computer).

IMO, Soyo is disreputable, I'll certainly never do business with them.
 
Soyo has that reputation, just search the web. I won't buy from them esp. not with rebates.

Hmm, I didn't know that about Soyo. However I want to note that this isn't a conventional rebate. It comes directly from PayPal and you don't need to fill out a form. It's just deposited back into your account at the end of September.
 
I'll bet its because of all the bad experiences people have had with Soyo and their rebates. The retailer's handling Soyo probably laid down the law. I'm sure outfits like NewEgg got sick of doing damage control and having to cover for the sloppy rebates practices of Soyo. (Thanks NewEgg BTW - NE is one of the most reputable)
