Dude,
That was cool. I had not seen that video before. What's amazing if you look at the price of the original mac and look at the price of a mac today. The price difference isn't much.
The original price of the first 128K mac was $2,500 back in Jan 24, 1984. It came w/ 128K of ram, Yes I said K as in Kilobyte, of memory. 21K of the total was required to run the OS leaving only 107K for the OS and programs. The CPU was a speedy 8 MHz, well actually it was 7.83MHz, but who's counting.
The single button mouse was born here due to market research which at the time said that users were not sure of which button to press when using a PC. The single button mouse is still standard when you buy a new Mac today (Why they do not go to a standard two button is beyond me).
The two accessories that were available for the original mac was an ImageWriter printer that retailed for $595.00 and an external floppy drive that retailed for $495.00. The external floppy drive was pretty much a necessity if you wanted to be able to save files with out removing the internal system floppy disk.
Needless to say that the latest G5 Mac's have come along way, but the roots started out with this small mac.
