T-Mobile has a free Nokia 2610 Prepaid Phone.

Comes already with $10 talk time, so you can just throw it in your glove box and use it in cases of emergency.

1. T-mobile Price : $30.00
2. Rebate Price : -$30.00
Final Price : Free Shipped After Rebate

The .86 per month fee locked in for 24 months is the gotcha

It is a good deal but only if you plan on using the phone..Otherwise the "free" phone costs $20.64- the free prepaid $10 so it would cost $10.64...

Is there a better plan out there for people who rarely use their phones?

A few years ago I did all the research. Tmobile to go was the cheapest way. If you "go gold" ($100) your minutes last a year and if you have leftover minutes at the end of the year, (since you're gold) you just renew them by adding more minutes ($10 is the lowest). It's pretty cheap compared to those $40/mo plans! If you really don't use your phone, that comes out to ~$8/mo for the first year and less than $1/mo for the following years.

wait there is a line fee? How? I have a prepaid phone from T-mobile since last year (for emergencies). I bought it with cash, and they have no records of my credit card...how will they charge the line fee?

"No catch", only $1 line monthly fee.

That doesn't exist. Tmobile PAYG doesn't have any kind of monthly fee, however, the $10 refill probably expires in 3 months unless you go gold before that.

Fill application and read small font it will be there.

I looked all over the Nokia site and couldn't find out how much the per-minute charge was for prepaid plans. Well, I'm happy with Net10's prepaid: 10 cents/minute. I was with AT&T, and when I switched to Net10, I was pleased to learn it uses the AT&T network.

Tried to access this offer and Tmobile's site says it's unavailable/sold out.

Good deal..

I just got the phone. it came with $10 worth of talk time already AND there was a $25 worth of talk time card IN the package as well.. that' $35 talk time..
this is in addition to the rebate , which i'll send !!!
- There is no line fee , daily fee, monthly fee etc if you select the pay as you go plan
- I selected pay as you go plan..
- the minute expire in 30 days.. and at the time of minutes expiry, if the phone does not have any minutes, the number will get deactivated as well..
