And according to a new report in the New England Journal of Medicine, Tamiflu may not even be an option for treating victims of a potential bird flu pandemic.

A newly identified strain of the avian virus - known as H5N1 - appears be resistant to the drug.

The report identified two Vietnamese patients who were treated with Tamiflu. Both died and both were infected with a Tamiflu-resistant version of the virus.
