Want to know what sucks?Get this.My future sister-in-law was supposed to receive her $600 stimulus check approximately two weeks ago.She was very excited when she found out how much she was going to get.But she was very disappointed when she received a horrible letter in the mail.
You see ,she was receiving SSI while she lived up in Michigan,and because she decided to work full time and not report it to Social Security,they found out and she owed over $5000 in back payments to SSI.Well the Social Security Administration took her entire stimulus check.She said it wasn't fair.I didn't think they could take it,but boy was i wrong.That sucks.

Well, it is illegal to collect SSI, work full time and NOT report it. If she had done everything above board they wouldn't have taken her check.

If you try to look on the upside, it is $600 less she has to repay so it is still a help in that way.

They can do anything they want. Fair or not and theres nothing you or anyone else can do about it. Here is SC if you dont pay your Hospital bills they take it out your Tax check. Same goes with Federal. The good thing about this is, If someone owes Child Support and they let their payments get $5000 behind or more then they take the Tax check and give it to the one thats owed the Child Support. :)

Exactly. I don't feel sorry for her at all. Social Security is in enough trouble without people stealing.
 
She seems to have gotten off pretty easy all things considered. Maybe you can help her to see that things could have turned out much worse.
 
Hey i don't feel any remorse for what she did.She knew that she had to let Social Security know she was working and yet failed to do so.I didn't say it was fair(she did).She screwed herself.Social Security also took her income tax refund.I just silently sat back and chuckled to myself.LOL
 
What really sucks are the people that scam on the system, get caught and then cry that it is not fair. :bs:

Hmmmm...i don't know what kind of remark that was,but if it was meant towards me,it wasn't very nice.I don't know you and you obviously don't know me,but from my perspective,you are calling me a liar or something.I didn't ask for your smart aleck tone.I do not condone her actions because she was wrong.I don't need to explain myself any further.:mad::mad::mad:
