Compared to alot of people here I am fairly new but not so new that I feel like I can't have a justified rant or 2...

First off...the Rep thread?? Why was it a big deal...we were all just playing around and about the time we really started to have real fun and get newbies involved we get shut down...
If it was a question of people getting (what some assume) unreputable points...I dont see the problem...on any board if I want to know if someone has a "clue", I look to see how long they have been there and how they interact with others...
The whole thing just seemed petty to me for that thread to get shut down, no disrespect intended but we never got a good explanation and its kindof hard to get newbies involved in "hugging" when they are not sure if they are doing something wrong or not because they are playing on a thread with a frowny face and having to call REPs "hugs" and other so-called sneaky names...

Next....why was Rags poll shut down? I have seen a handful of people leave this board since I started and I am not behind the scenes as much as some people but I just don't understand why certain opinions and inquiries and polls are fine and others are not....I don't think one person would have had a problem with Rags poll and IMHO the "powers that be" could just ignore it if they didn't like it...again, no disrespect intended but will what I write here be deleted or locked because someone doesnt like it...seems like it would be just as easy to let your people have their rants and games....its your board to do with what you like but its sad that we should have to feel like we are walking on eggshells to be here with ppl we like being online with....because in all honesty...there just arent that many freebies out there and I mainly come here to see whats going on with some of the people that I have come to know here...this has, since I started coming here, become a very social place...and I just don't understand why we can't just be ourselves as long as we aren't bashing each other...

The problem with Rag's poll was that it was just a continuation of another thread (where people became mean spirited at the end) and we didn't want that same meanness carried over.

As far as the Rep thread, it was ultimately Spoofee that shut it down as he believed that people playing the game sullied the actual reputation points that others were earning for posting good deals. He is looking at other alternatives right now so that hopefully everyone will be happy where they can get their hugs and thanks too.

And if you haven't noticed, a couple of the mods were playing in the Rep thread and are playing the Hug thread so it is not as if 'the powers that be' are all stuffy and such.
 
I did notice a couple of Mods were playing and that is one reason why I was so curious as to why it was shut down...

I was not trying to attack, just trying to understand why so many people are upset and why some things work the way they do here...

Its sad that people are leaving here...
 
I agree it is sad that people are leaving but inevitably, we can't please everyone (look at facebook as an example). I honestly believe that some individuals leave too quickly before things are rectified.
 
I don't use facebook or any of those sites but I was involved in a comedian site that was pro-free speech and that ended in disaster eventually...I understand there has to be a certain amount of discretion and crowd control...

I just didnt understand why seemingly fun and/or innocent things were getting no-no's...

I just wanted to get that off my mind...I'm not very good at keeping my fingers off the keyboard when things bother me (or anytime for that matter)

that reminded me...I went to a friends house the other day and her new boyfriend was there....as soon as I walked in, she said..."OH crap I forgot to give him the "disclaimer" on you..." He was confused but its been a joke for years that I have my own way of thinking and I have no problem saying anything thats on my mind...

My opinion

I am not trying to rant here and I hope that this does not offend anyone but my personal opinon is that I thought off topic was supposed to be to ask questions you may need help with (i.e. computer help, etc...) or even to talk about experiences that may be helpful to other people, even to wish someone happy birthday and things of this nature.. Instead I have become very dissapointed with most of the things I am seeing on the off topic section ( rep game, nasty pics, threads about needing to be drinking or be buzzed, and in general things that just in no way are helping anyone). I have also noticed that some of the mods are going along with it. I know there are kids that are browsing this site or playing games in the arcade and I would be very upset if it was my child and they stumbled across the things I have seen and read here.

p.s. I do not want this to turn into a heated discussion. If you don't like what is said here please disregard this post.

I understand you cannot please everybody and again this is just my 2:money: and I am only one person.

If you feel this will cause problems please feel free to remove this post.

okay, you have a right to your opinion but how on earth could you possibly lump the Rep game in with all the other things you mentioned as finding offensive?

The Rep game was(kind of still is) just a friendly way to send friendly little messages to people you might never know how to start talking to and give newbies a fun way to jump in and feel included and actually learn their way around spoofee and a little about the peoples personality. It took me forever to even come to this part of the board and months to even find out about "user CP"...

may I ask what you found offensive about it??
 
I would NEVER let my child on this site, LOL, not because it is such a bad site, but it features a LOT of adult opinions and subject matter, drinking or being buzzed is not offensive to everyone, but it is to some and I know I don't want my kids learning about it, so they don't come here, if someone's child is coming here for games, they really need a parent to step in and find them different places to go for games, there are a million of them out there, I have searched for and approved and disapproved many, the content as far as pics on this site gets offensive to me, although it's not porn and by some not even considered offensive ( I think I may be openening a can of worms here) but I really wouldn't want my kids seeing the content of this site, it's not a children's website by any means, now as far as people leaving, I don't know how to remedy it but it makes me sad to see them go, I have always been a forgiving soul and try to get a feel for the good in everyone, and forgive freely, I understand that there's no way for me to make changes here and I am at the mercy of the site owner to make the right decision....

With that said, I hope that one day I am not forced to leave because the wrong decision is made but I am not leaving for now, I am slow to anger and quick to forgive and for now I am staying around.
 
ALSO, the rep game needs to come back, most people who post on the freebie board don't even know what rep is anyway, if someone wants to whine, send them my way and we will see what we can work out, let us have our fun, the rep game was so tame and so much fun and the lame concept I came up with to call them hugs to please the powers that be so they don't have to hear the whining is just sad. If someone's life is so miserable that they feel they must ruin somone else's fun, they need to get off of the internet and into a mental ward because you must have real issues if something like that bothered you. I like the rep game, I want to see its return please! And I am sure if asked, more people would want its return than would want it gone.
 
I am a silent observer,but i have to add my two cents here.I have noticed that in the "off topic" section,it has become party central, regarding drinking and getting a buzz.This is not appropriate for children.Please don't bash me,as i am just observing what i see.I am not a prude,but can we keep the "off topic" clean....meaning keeping it related to family happenings,birthdays and what not?Why not add an adult section,that way anyone who goes in there can talk about whatever floats their boat.But i don't own this forum,so that is a suggestion.
I don't really care why the rep game was shut down,i just wish it was brought back.Maybe if we all asked nicely,it will come back.
As far as us all getting along,why can't we?When i first joined Spoofee,i was making so many wonderful friends.But slowly one by one is leaving.Thats such a shame that everyone that i liked has gone.I wish they would return.
I am only giving you all my perspective.If it will cause a major problem,please feel free to delete this post.I only hope that from my opinions i do not get banned.I for one am proud to be a member of a great forum,that has great freebies and such.I do not intend to leave.Thank you for listening.

I appreciate people being civil and having a rational discussion. The reason why the rep game was closed was Spoofee's decision. And it was because this is a deal site foremost so the rep points were made to reward members for making good posts and being recognized for that. We dont want to take people's fun. That is not the intention of course. I promise you something is in the works to bring back the game where all members can play and be included.

Meanwhile, I have to say that this site is not intended or geared towards children. While the subject matter isn't going to be about porn or anything specifically adult, there will be serious discussions about things that you may not want your children to read. Think of this place as a Dave and Busters where its games and entertainment for adults, if children want to play too, adults need to supervise.

in the end, cam is right, we cannot please everyone.. as is evident. But we try to keep this place clean and running smoothly. It would be absolutely appreciated if everyone can help and not try to push everyone's buttons and purposely argue. Also, if you feel threatened by someone, try to put their comments in context or just plain ignore them. Don't be tempted by everything they say and push back.. The mods are not babysitters.. in fact we would make terrible babysitters. That is why I don't babysit =P. Although it would be nice to be paid hourly for this ;D

anyhoo... I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend. The weather is beautiful in California and I fully plan on heading to the beach. Take care everyone.

Well Crap!!!!!!! Can we just make a section for each member...why should there be an adult section...wouldnt that just open a whole new set of rules and ...well I am just frustarted now...if a thread says "ya gotta have a buzz to come in" and this offends you then dont go in....

and I agree with Ultimate...WHY would kids be here in the first place..?????????

Its the same concept of a strip club being in your town...just DON"T look...how would you guys know there were offensive pics in a thread unless you looked...repeatedly...I cant even spell now....

this is just mind blowing...everyone has their own idea of whats right wrong good bad...get a grip and move onto the things you think are good...to me this thread has taken a very wrong turn...I didnt bring a pulpit in here...I just wanted some answers and I thank Spaz for discussing my topic with me...but I didnt expect the moral patrol to show up...

I find anything Allure to be particulary offensive at this time. Can we have all of the Allure posts (especially the August 2008 ones) removed please???? :wink: :tongue: No really, I am not just trying to be funny here! :suspicious: (I only feel this way because I only won about 3 items in the 65 hours I sat infront of my computer trying to win these stupid contests)!!!

Okay. I was simply saying that there are things posted in the off topic section that I feel do not belong There. I did not consider the rep game to be offensive I was talking about serveral other things. I feel that the rep game should have been posted elsewhere because it was a game.

I understand where you are going here and would not look if I knew that the pic could possibly be offensive however the titles to the threads can be misleading and they do not describe what is exactly there.

Just a suggestion/thought.....and not looking to complicate anything.....and I'm not so sure that it is even a good idea....but what about a 'safe zone' category/topic?

That way those who do not want to see or discuss anything that could possibly be 'questionable' (off topic) can find a 'safe haven' strictly "G-rated"? Warning/Infractions if violated? :noidea:

Just a thought...again, it may not be a good one.....:noidea:
