I ordered this awhile ago through Circuit City and received my rebate fairly quickly. Actually there were 2 rebates with it - one through C.C. and one through the manufacturer - both were processed and received quickly.

After writing this, I realize that it is unlikely it will help, seeing as how this rebate is through Outpost...sorry :doh:
 
Are Outpost rebates hard to get?

I haven't had problems in the past... I just ordered this and the b*stards changed my selection from "Ground" (free) to "2nd day" ($12). I hit submit before I realized they'd done the bait-and-switch, and now I've spent the last 45 minutes listening to Muzak from the 1970's and 1980's after calling their 877 number. Is this typical of Fry's / Outpost? I tried to call the store (no help), and any other numbers I could find on the 'net for them (no answer). Of course, the email I sent immediately after placing the order has gone unanswered all day as well.

This is completely rediculous; if they don't pick up in the next 10 minutes, I'm just calling my credit card company and disputing the charge to cancel the order....

They finally answered (48 minutes later). I gave the order number and requested they change the shipping; before I could complete my sentance, the guy says, "...ground shipping. Why am I not surprised?" I pointed out that it's pretty moronic to change a user's selection from one shipping method to the other between screens, and he acknowledged that 2nd day is the default and they're aware that it changes on the final confirmation screen (so don't hit SUBMIT too fast folks!).

It's still a moronic design, IMNSHO.
 
How mean, "...Why am I not surprised?" WTF? Some of these customer support personnel really needs to learn some manners. Such a comment was uncalled for and rude.
 
I have one of these psus. I got it a long while back and it's pretty reliable. It's not dual 12v rails, though.
 
Yeah I ordered mine and caught the switch to 2nd day shipping and changed it back to ground. It must be a bug because I ordered something 2 weeks ago and it didn't happen then.

I think the rep meant he keeps hearing people complaining about it. I wouldn't find that comment rude, but maybe I have thicker skin.
 
I've bought about 8 of these including the 400W, 500, 500 SLi versions.

So far I've received 2 of the rebates and all the others are pending....
if you make one mistake on the rebate process they'll deny it and
send you back through the system again.

The 400 does not sell well at auction but both 500's do.......and
all do well at our flea market.
 
I made 2 purchases at Outpost today (not this item) and both times the shipping changed to 2nd day. This is new to Outpost/Frys and I'm not too thrilled by it. Luckily I caught it both times (saved me about $40 on both orders). Moronic design indeed.
