Else, typically a site will be centered and have lots of space on the sides.
 
Seriously, wide screen monitors rock so sweetly. It pains me to to surf or play games on anything but these days...everything is formatted for widescreen.

Just look up the specs on your graphics card online and it should say. To find out your type of card, right click your desktop, go to properties, click the settings tab and see what it says under display.
