This is weighing on my mind today. I think it really hit me this morning. It is just so sad. My prayers go out to all the families who lost someone. :(

Curious to know what the 'disturbed writings' were about......:hmm:

I am watching the news...his note was about charlataines and rich kids.It was mentioned that he may had abhorent behavior.Gee whiz...ya think??
My heart goes out to those who lost a loved one,and a friend or co-worker.

Abhorrent behavior, or aberrant behavior? There is a huge difference.

My only beef is with the media. Someone (on CNN I think) was comparing it to other school shootings, and they were almost using a 'high score' approach saying that with over thirty dead, this one tops all the other shootings, blah blah blah.. All thats gonna do is make the next guy to freakout try to get five more than this guy did so he can be in the history books.

I had the same thoughts yesterday while watching the news

We live here in Virginia and alot of people I know have children at Tech. One lady I know said her daughter's room was just 2 doors down from the room in the dorm where the shooting took place. I just cannot imagine!

I guess what we are seeing here is a bunch of parents saying that they didnt know right away about the incident or the parents of students who were killed didnt find out until late yesterday. Many are blaming the adminstration of the school for not contacting them earlier. I know this is a tragedy, but I think the administration was right in waiting to inform parents until the identities of the students killed or injured could be obtained.

Either way, its sad!

What I found disconcerting with the comparisons was I had a profound sense that the media actually diminished the other shootings/deaths based merely on a numerical designation. When one person is slaughtered, that is one to many. Just ask any parent, friend, loved one who has lost one cherished individual. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victims, the entire VT campus (lovely area), and even for the shooter himself. Hopefully peace will return to all involved. :(

Here's the story of a professor who blocked the doors to let students escape. This professor was killed yesterday.

Holocaust Survivor, Professor Killed Helping Students Escape

Thats what I think a real teacher should do, protect their students.

The day after the Columbine shootings my high school math teacher actually said to my class "if that happens here, the first person who helps me out the window gets an A for the year."

I told her to do something to herself (use your imagination there), and walked out of the classroom, went to to principals office and sat there for the rest of the period. The rest of the year I continued to sit that period out in the principals office. I also made sure to complete every single problem in the text, but I NEVER set foot in that class again.

That professor is a real hero for saving his students. :claps: Poor guy survives the Holocaust then gets killed at work. :(

Sounds like a man I wish I had known. I will honor him appropriately.

Ditto, the media encourages this nonsense. Now they are 'immortalized' and their 'plight' is known by all. After all, they never would have been heard with it. Sad, there has to be a solution to this madness. :(

I go to GMU and live about 30 min away from VT my condolences for all the families and friends of the victims. After finding everything about the incident everywhere I go from friends, students, reporters, and teachers; I try not to think about it or watch the news for the rest of the day because of how sad it is. But I can't help but watch the news anyways because I'm worried for all my friends who go to VT even though I know they are safe. It is just a sad day in the nation and no one is to blame besides the shooter. If anyone wants to express their condolences you can post an uplifting message to any of the victims facebooks or myspaces. Hope all the students here can get back to their daily routine quickly. From what I have seen today at VT it seems their community can overcome anything.

I cant imagine being in anyone's shoes who has been effected by this - Students, parents, friends, loved ones - my prayers go out to all of them.

I just saw on the news about the package Cho mailed to NBC complete with a video and pics - this story keeps getting deeper and more sad.........

I'm really getting irritated with the media on this and anything they decide to spend all day every day covering.
I think this is a tragedy, I do, but aren't there other things going on just as serious? How many men and women do we have overseas being massacred every day and they NEVER want to talk about that.
"Officials" talk and say we need to strengthen security and this and that. If I wanted to walk into my office tomorrow and shoot the place up, believe me, I could do it. There are no fool- proof ways to stop things like this, but the media keeps it going. People keep talking and talking and talking out their behinds. They put thoughts in peoples heads and keep things going.

Dr. Richard Roberts, president of Oral Roberts University, shouts an unequivocal “Yes!”

“Based on what I’ve seen in the news," Roberts said in an interview, "there’s no doubt that this act was Satanic in origin."

The Dr. was from Oral Roberts University so it must be true.
