This is a great deal, but I love how it's posted after I bought one for $80 after rebates.... Good find.

If you want to pricematch

Western Digital 160GB Internal Hard Drive for $26 After Price Match + Rebate

Circuit City has a great deal on the Western Digital 160GB, 8mb buffer, 7200 rpm hard drive.

1. Find your local Circuit City and call to make sure they have it in stock.
2. Print out Sams Club Page ($119.84) - Here
3. Buy the Western Digital 160GB hard drive in stores.
4. At the register, ask them to print a copy of the receipt for your rebates.
5. Leave all info about the rebates and copy of the receipt in your car.
6. Go out for a cup of coffee or anything to waste some time.
7. Come back with the Sams Club page and the hard drive original receipt.
8. Ask the customer service for a pricematch with Sam's Club price.
( If Circuit City tells you they cannot pricematch "members only" prices, tell them that Circuit City pricematches Costco and Costco is a "members only" store ).
9. If all went well, go home and send your rebates in with the copy of the receipt you received in step 4.
Final Price : $25.99

Written documentation

Is it written somewhere by Circuit City that they will pricematch Costco? Would help if I could take printed documentation with me for support.

CC turned me down. The Costco argument didn't work.

Will this work...

Take the Sam's Club ad in
Ask CSR if they will price match it
Buy the drive
Print the rebate forms off circuitcity.com

Insight

Hey all,

I just figured I'd give you a little insight. This is kind of a even argument. CC says they'll match local competitors prices with ads. So if you have an ad you should meet requirements go, but the other problem is that Sams and BJ's are considered clubs therefore they are not competitors. That's how CC looks at it. Some stores might match it some might not. I'm a lonely little peon of CC and I figured I'd give you the view of them. (this is not official, just how my store runs.) Either way, Thanks for all the insights you've posted for us so far.

how long do CC accept price match

i went there....but they said its less than sams club after rebate...i tried to argue saying its the list price that matter and they shouldn't consider the rebates....

isn't it so...pls let me know...also felt like i will go and try once they forget tjhose rebates stuff ;)...wondering how long would CC accept price match..

thanks

Yeah... They don't have to honor rebates. Some stores will if they want the sales but some can't afford to take the hit...

*#&@&** @*(@#( UGGG, I just went to three stores, with no success at any. They say they won't pricematch clubs. Tried the Costco tactic, didn't work either.

Not even going to try

After reading all the posts, I don't think I'm even going to give the PM a try. No sense getting PO'ed for nothing. I bought the drive this morning thinking I would try the price match it tomorrow but now I think I just might keep it. After all, $69 bucks for a 160 gig hard drive is not to shabby. :hmm:

I just called my circuit city and they said they do pricematch on products from Sam's Club!!! YAY!!!

But I got one question before i do this. In CC's terms about pricematch, it says, "Our policy applies only to advertised prices. It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates, free-with-purchase offers and special financing." Does this mean that the policy only applies to THEIR advertised prices or the OTHER store with the lower price?

ya..thats my question as well ...pls see the link ...if anyone knows pls let us know..
thx

For those that have bought this drive, did your receipt have the rebate slip? Or did you have to get the rebate form elsewhere?

Wrong Link

:clown: Did anyone notice the link for circuit city goes to officemax site?

DOH!!

Circuits site is saying that it applies to any local competitors advertised price (excluding rebates) not just their own.

Printed at the register

The rebate slips ($40 and a $50) printed out at the register.

I called and the sales reps says the final price is lower than sam's. Has anyone tried the argument that rebates cannot be pricematched anyways so how can it be the final say?

Also, if you have two reciepts from CC (one rebate one and one real one) what's keeping you from buying the hd from sam's and using that UPC? (of course it's prob illegal...)
