Well one time I had a crummy job as a housekeeper in a hospital. I was throwing stuff into a insinuator and came across a whole bunch of baby lotion and Destin they were going to throw away. At the time I had a baby at home so I took it and even though the bottles of lotion were expired by 1 day it worked just fine for me and my baby. You would be surprised at all the stuff businesses throw away what a waste! My nephew worked at a fast food place once and every nite they would throw away food that none bought so he brought some of it home. The sad thing is why don't businesses give it away to a food shelf? - I know one person who uses a food shelf and some of the food has expired but is still good.

I also have received at least $50.00 in Amazon GC by doing surveys. Also T-shirts once in awhile.

In the past I have received several free computers as discards for upgrades from schools. THey were not thefts, they were throw aways, take what you want. Why schools don't have auctions or 'yard sales' is beyond me. This was several years ago. I got my first 3 iMacs in this way.

From spoofee, i think the camel joe zippo 'lucky' lighter was the best freebie i've gotten, but i can't remember exactly, and im biased b/c i like lighters and fire.

As far as food, my neighbor works for the best ice cream place ever, (its not a chain, it's unique to my area) and she brings me home whatever I want at the end of her shift, her uncle owns the place.

Also for food, my current employer has new hire orientation for two days twice a month. One of the two times is at my building, the other time is in another building in a different county. The company is a multimillion dollar LLP so they spare no cost at the 8 hour orientation as far as delectables. THe finest danishes, pastries, muffins, and bagels in the morning, and then fresh wraps for lunch with roasted red peppers, fresh mozzerella, eggplant, etc. All the luxeries. I am very friendly with the third floor administration, so they let me know when the orientations will be and I'm always allowed to get my share of goodies :)

In NYC they have a program where the 'better restaurants' at the days' end 'donate' the left over food to shelters and such. http://www.volunteernyc.org/org/1099225.html It's a good program.

Also, my uncle was a baker who worked near us growing up. He would call us when he went in to work (he baked all nite long) and tell us to come and get what didn't sell that day (his neighbors loved him!). If it rained....we got lots.....it's a joke in our family that when he retired...everyone lost 20 lbs!
